Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord / master being old also?” (Genesis 18:1-12)

The common title lord is equivalent to master, slurred in English to Mister, defines the authority required to fulfill responsibilities to provide for and protect the landlord’s people, especially in times of crisis like war or famine. Everyone needs a person in this role in their social circle to whom they can turn to for help.

To turn this title into slander is either gross ignorance or deliberate defamation.

Most of all, this accusation against the Bible deceives its intended – obviously ignorant – audience regarding the fact that it is the Roman Empire’s culture – LAUDED by humanists such as this American Atheists Organization – which is responsible for slavery for the last two thousand years, including its political control over the nation of Israel when the New Testament was written, and its perpetuation into our current modern era by elitists’ exploitation of the masses.

This sorry excuse of a criticism smears itself, not the Bible.

The knowledge of Creator God is clearly reflected in ancient religious writings.

Hesiod, who translated the older civilizations’ accounts of the origins of the gods / Theo-gony into the Greek culture’s version also converted the ancient Babylonian Ages of Man – historical stages of human existence– to fit Greek culture. Like Nebuchadnezzar’s statue, these began with a perfect state of existence then degraded over time, indicated symbolically with metals of successively decreasing value.

The Golden Age of Man was characterized by peace and harmony. The humans freely associated with the gods and, like them, did not have to work to feed themselves. These conditions parallel the biblical account of the first humans’ way of life in the Garden of Eden, including conversing with the serpent as a normal part of a walk in the park.

One aspect of the unity between God and both branches of his offspring that is most unfortunately missed by mainstream Christianity is the expression of gender duality.

While it is assumed from the statement “male and female created he them” that God created one of the humans with male reproductive organs and the other with female reproductive organs, that assumption doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Colossians 2:9-10)

Scientifically, chimerism is a natural condition of a single individual being both male and female.

As shown in the very ancient Hindu depiction of Shiva, a primary god, this is a key aspect not only of Father God but his spirit sons. If we don’t acknowledge this, we miss a key manifestation of spirit beings interacting with humans.

The (in my view) phenomenally relevant television show Breaking Bad demonstrates this concept to a society that has lost touch with this reality when the quintessentially rebellious teenager Jesse, despite his natural disinclination for submission to authority, apprentices himself to an obnoxious high school teacher in order to gain power from him. In the process he learns to shut up and listen to instruction.

The ancient definition of father was not exclusively or even essentially sperm donor, or even head of a family, but absolute authority within a social group.

• “Jabal was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.” Think primary food providers, like the ranchers in the American West 
• ‘Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. (Genesis 4:20-22) the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals…to give thanks and to praise the LORD. (I Chronicles 25:1-3)

The Sixth Sense was one of 1999’s biggest hits, earning six Academy Award nominations, including best picture because “the reveal just blew your mind” – the key fact that was actually present from the beginning and throughout every event, that the viewer missed – due to false preconceptions.

For example, one comedian jested that the multiple occasions over time of a wife apparently giving the cold shoulder to her husband is such a common marital experience that it never occurs to the viewer to question it to be anything else. Even at the Revelation, because it is such a shock, the viewer is given a quick review of those events to overcome any doubt that the Revelation is indeed consistently true.

The biblical account is no different. In order to “get” the revelation of any mystery story one must accept the facts presented at the beginning of an account, then surfacing throughout the development of the plot, until the ultimate revelation:

““when I laid the foundations of the earth…all the sons of God shouted for joy.” (Job 38:4-7)

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation 21:7)

Primo-geniture/ first-born is the most common practice in the Western world, but ancient societies valued proven competence over birth order. for obvious survival reasons. An extension of the Father’s base-line authority, he also chose the son who became the new head of the family when he ceded his authority.

The Godfather saga is a case study of the concept of granting inheritance to the son who best manifests the father’s likeness by demonstrating commitment to the values of the father. Out of Vito Corleone’s sons, the older two go their own ways, both out of pride – the oldest out of arrogance and the second son out of resentment. Only Michael, the youngest, inherits the father’s dominion, because he carries out his father’s will.

Michael in turn publicly names his nephew Vincent as his heir, because Vincent has become  just like him because he has submitted himself to the punishing training required to make him capable of carrying on Michael’s legacy. 

The ancient term for designating a child one’s heir is “begat”.

“This is the book of the generations of Adam…Adam begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth…And after he had begotten Seth…he begat sons and daughters.” (Genesis 5:3-5)

In any inheritance there are two elements to one’s estate – material assets and authority to manage them.

This concept is well portrayed in Breaking Bad.

Jesse’s character development into Mr. White’s likeness is encapsulated in a brusque comment made by Mr. White on a test paper that Jesse perceived as Mr. Whites’ recognition and empowering of his parents’ overlooked ability, so kept among his few belongings – “Apply yourself!”

Despite being in constant emotional conflict this authority figure, he respects him as evidenced by always addressing him as “Mr. White” and modeling his own behavior after his.

Not only does he become the heir to Mr. White’s drug empire, as Jesse matures we hear Jesse repeat Mr. White’s instructions, including the all-important “Apply yourself!” to his own subordinates, and they begin to model their behavior after his.

And without giving away any of the building drama, the “only” begotten heir multiplies himself into “many brethren”.

“Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob…Jacob begat Judas and his brethren.” (Matthew 1:2)
