“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:12-13)

It was only “the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.” (Jude 1:6)

That still leaves their cloned-off spirits from drowned hybrids.

The giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. 9. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men, ⌈⌈and⌉⌉ from the holy [hyperdimensional] Watchers is their beginning and primal origin…the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] 11. And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, ⌈but nevertheless hunger⌉ and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded ⌈from them⌉. The Book Of Enoch chapter XV.

While any form, even a lifeless image / idol is preferable to no body at all, humans have always been first-line prey for evil angels’ spirits due to the opportunity to maximize common soul-based experiences.

“they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:” (Matthew 8:16)

Jesus and his chroniclers treated endemic evil spirits as such well-known facts in the endemic paganism of that time, not needing an explanatory introduction beyond what Moses documented in the Torah and Enoch in his pre-flood history book.

Histories, legends, mythologies, and religions throughout the world validate the biblical account that human bodies can be possessed by spirit beings. In a 1969 study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, spirit possession beliefs were found to exist in 74% of a sample of 488 societies in all parts of the world including Buddhism, Christianity, Haitian Vodou, Hinduism, Islam, Wicca, and Southeast Asian, African, and Native American traditions. Spirit possession may be considered voluntary or involuntary and may be considered to have beneficial or detrimental effects on the host.

Spirit possession is an unusual or an altered state of consciousness and/or emotional, cognitive, physical and behavioral abnormalities for that person. These may be severely disabling or super-humanly enabling.

” a certain [Greek] damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying…But Paul…said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.” (Acts 16:15-19)

Gadara was a typical Hellenistic city under the Seleucids.It was the hometown of the Cynic philosopher Menippus [3rd c. BCE] who invented the genre of mocking narrative satire imitated by later Greek and Latin writers.

In good satiric style Mark 5 portrays Jesus as expelling a demon named “Legion” — the basic unit of the Roman army…Like the satires of Menippus, however, the setting of this exorcism story is purely imaginative, since there are no cliffs in the region…

Uhm, the above writer is the one who is falling back on the genre of mocking narrative satire to avoid facing facts.

The biblical narrative states “into the country of”, so this is just the typical sneer at the Bible, not a credible evaluation. Google Maps validates the geographical portion of this narrative.

Umm Qais in Northern Jordan was once the Roman Decapolis city of Gadara. The ruins provide sweeping views over the Sea of Galilee. 

“they came over unto the country of the Gadarenes… and when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs;”

A necro-polis…is a large, designed cemetery with elaborate tombs.The name stems from the Ancient Greek νεκρόπολις nekro-polis, literally meaning “city of the dead”, implies a separate burial site at a distance from a city vs a mausoleum . Etruscan [Roman} necropoli were usually located on hills or slopes of hills.

And Luke provides a second witness to the events.

“And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not! (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) 

And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name?

Obtaining the name of one’s hyper dimensional adversary is a well known requirement for obtaining power over that adversary. And in human relations as well.

And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep / bottomless pit.“

“And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.” 

Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear.” (Luke 8:26-37)

The reaction of the Gadarenes and Gergasenes is often taught as being triggered by financial concerns, but the documented fact is that they were terrified of the evil spirits who had just been set loose by the dying pigs and seeking – like sausages – new casings. The chain of transmission to new victims is the same as with COVID and every other infectious disease.

Take microorganisms that live in the soil, for example, classified as fungi, bacteria, archaea, protozoa, or viruses.  Soil microbes are directly associated with decomposition and nutrient cycling. It has been estimated that a single gram of soil can contain up to several billion bacteria, more than enough for Legion.
