~ 3750 BC,  i.e. dated a couple of centuries after biblical Adam and Eve at ~ 4,000 BC, the Proto-Semitic peoples create was is called the Stone Age by anthropologists, divided into Paleo / ancient, Meso / middle, and Neo / new. Since stone is impossible to date, this system is based on the findings of more or less refined flint arrowheads, stone tools, etc. which are assumed to demonstrate a linear timeline of evolutionary differences in Evolutionary mental development.

In reality, this is reflection of social development with farmers and herders using hard substances at hand to create sharpened tools and weapons. The indigenous populations were using stone missiles against the European invaders’ guns during the 16th century Age of Exploration, and Israel was forced to rely on stone missiles during the Iron Age when the Philistines maintained exclusive rights to their superior forged metal weapons.

Archeology unwittingly validates the biblical and rabbinical accounts of the way of Cain who corralled enslaved peoples into cities “east of Eden” under control of the gods for about 1,000 years / a reich, from ~3,350 to ~2350 BC, the date of Noah’s flood.

Between 3500 B.C. and 3100 B.C. the foundations were laid for a complex culture in Mesopotamia, based on large urban centers rather than simple villages – what we associate with civilization. There are several theories about why and how the great cities grew to such a large and truly peculiar size and complexity compared to the rest of the world.“

If we calculate a modest population growth rate of 2.5%, starting with just one set of parents, in 1,000 years after Adam and Eve there could have been 3+ billion people, equal to the population of the entire world after WWII.

But there isn’t evidence of that many people throughout the entire world in the anthropological or archeological findings.

According to the renown war historian Arther Ferril, “the origins of war can be traced back…to the emergence of settled life…cities…One strong piece of evidence for social turmoil at this time is the evidence of a huge organized battle at Hamoukar in Syria. There was in the Near East at the beginning of the Neolithic Age a genuine burst of organized warfare.”

This supports the biblical account of devastating violence and death in the years leading up to the Flood, when the Cainites are documented to have developed metal weapons during the oldest age of mankind, assigned to the Paleolithic / Ancient Rock Age.

Lamech took unto him…Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron” (Genesis 4:17-22)

“there was a revolution in weapons technology that has only a few modern parallels – the invention of gunpowder, the locomotive, airplanes, tanks, and the atomic bomb. The following depiction of gang violence is too close to home for some to handle.  Bear in mind, what we sheltered people can’t bear to vicariously view is what too many people are forced to experience every day in real life.

Without a doubt there were plenty of people living hand-to-mouth in caves, fleeing from armies and bounty hunters. Parallel situations occur in historic times.

• Early Christian communities fleeing persecution found refuge in the Kadisha caves in Lebanon.
• In the Middle Ages a massive population displacement was driven by the Mongol hordes.
• In the 16th – 17th centuries the Europeans who conquered and destroyed the complex civilizations in Central and South America forced the survivors of great empires back into subsistence living conditions.
• From the 17th to the 19th centuries down-trodden Europeans left their cities to tough it out in camping conditions while settling North America from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
• As of the middle of 2024, the most recent tabulation of data at the time of this writing, over 122.6 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to conflict, persecution and human rights violations according to UN refugee agency UNHCR. 

The movie Apocalypto vividly portrays the violent, oppressive means of empire building and tribulation so briefly mentioned in the Bible. Brutality in empire-building is the culmination of unregenerate human nature. Any people group that rejects the complete Word of God will invariably practice evil, as evidenced by Christian nations’ treatment of:

• Native peoples in the New World who within a few decades were almost exterminated by European explorers with upwards of 90% death rates from disease and maltreatment.
• North American Indians sacrificed to European immigrants’ desire for land,
• Africans forced into slavery by fellow Africans in collaboration with European and American profiteers,
• Australian Aborigines who lost their land and children to European settlers.
• Peoples experiencing genocide in countries colonized, destabilized, then abandoned by Western nations once they are no longer of any use to them.

Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him…

The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people…and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the LORD God of hosts…

Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.“ (Isaiah 3)

The military revolution that occurred at that time – the major new weapons, the massive fortifications, the creation of strategy and tactics – ultimately gave rise to the great war machines of ancient Egypt, Assyria and Persia which dominated the Near East to the time of Alexander the Great.

And the great war machines have only gotten more and more destructive.

It only took 300 years for our industrialized European society to go from inventing steam power to rocket power.

Can you imagine what our world would be like if the genius innovators of the last 500 years had lived as long as the pre-flood peoples allowing them to continue their research and development for hundreds of years, or the most powerful conquerors in history had continued expanding their empires?

Weapons of mass destruction.

Lauding archeological remains and lavish clothing and jewelry as a sign of high culture while ignoring the exploitation and murder of the people whose resources were used to enrich the elites is a disturbing manifestation of the hardness of human hearts. The Hunger Games strips away the veneer of respectability of our very real society and exposes the true face of ungodly selfishness and greed that inevitably results in war.
