Many Wiccans and witches believe that all things contain a primal energy or vital life force that moves within and among them. The association of homosexuality with spirit possession is endemic to pagan cultures around the world. When European explorers first encountered Pacific Coast Native Americans they were shocked to note the presence–in a wide variety of tribes–of Native American men who wore female clothing, performed female duties, and appeared to be the “wives” of prominent Native American men, particularly in California. Native Americans considered sexuality – like the ancient Sumerians – as an aspect of a person’s spirit, and these individuals, biologically male, possessed both male and female spirits and considered to be endowed with immense spiritual power.
A nation that proclaims “In God We Trust” will be “spued out” by its massive internal corruption for having allowed, promoted, and is even now demanding that its citizens practice. As the concept of the land itself spuing out the corrupt nation, this isn’t even God’s judgment – it is part of the laws of nature built into entropy / chaos vs enthalpy / order. Well established spiritual principles underlie the millennia’s-long prohibition of these behaviors to safeguard humans from spirit possession which inevitably leads to our destruction.
Encouraging communication with spirits – certainly a dangerous enterprise – is a well-known part of the Spiritualism movement of the 19th century. This return to Roman-ticism was in part imagination’s flight from the Industrial Revolution’s oppressive urban lifestyle.
This ties directly to one little known aspect of the Spiritualism movement. Since the ancient gods are androgenous beings assigned male/female identities at will, this Roman-tic movement not only encouraged communication with spirits, but also possession by them. The existence of “fairies” in the flesh – the “third sex” was made up of men who identified themselves as women.
The label of “fairies” was not the slur it became in our era, but was an honorific identification of someone as the embodiment of an ancient deity. Numerous scientists, historians, theologians, artists, and eminent authors, among them Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, swelled the ranks of those who held the fairy faith throughout Queen Victoria’s reign.
There is seen a visible increase in homosexuality especially among men as well as intelligentsia during that period of history. It is believed that Victorians had a more lenient attitude towards gay relationships than their 1960s counterparts.
America’s wilderness gold rush was occurring at the same time as the spread of Spiritism centered in rural New York State and the rise of the Industrial Revolution’s wealthy elites in American and European cities. In the 1850s San Francisco’s port was the main gateway to the gold fields of California. This distinctly male enterprise was markedly different from the rest of the Westward Ho! movement where families set up homesteads and towns on the prairies. There were few women.
Between 1848-1850 the population grew from 800 to 35,000 without governmental structure. Consisting of over 95% young, male, transient, international immigrants seeking a quick fortune, with no family or social constraints or social cohesion of any kind where “anything goes”. Although not fully accepted by society–and certainly not by religious institutions–manliness was defined in part by sexual appetite–if no woman existed to slake it, a man might indeed seek out another man and no one would question either his manliness or his sexual orientation.
The relatively anarchic environment can be equated to prison conditions of constant threat of coercion and violence. Among the more important issues of life in prison, which is neglected by administrators, policy makers, scholars, and the media, is the issue of the common occurrence of prison inmate sexuality and sexual violence. Homosexual behavior is considered the norm by inmates by those whose sexual orientation was straight prior to incarceration. A large proportion of sexual activity is coerced among incarcerated men, even when it may initially appear voluntary. The most notable aspect of one study was that nearly one half of the reported incidents of female sexual coercion involved staff as perpetrators.
When by the late 1860’s a shift in the demographics of San Francisco brought conventional governance against the rampant prostitution, cross-dressing and indecent public behaviors, San Francisco’s queer culture remained, to be reinforced after WWI as the closest port of call into which homosexual ex-soldiers were dropped off after being discovered and dishonorably discharged.
During WWII, for the first time in American military history, homosexuals were identified and excluded from military service. In the process of examining the nearly 36 million men eligible for service, thousands found to be homosexual and identified as such on their draft rejection paperwork. Thousands more from the Pacific theater identified by behaviors were dishonorably discharged with a capital H on their paperwork. These forms effectively barred them from polite society in every way from acceptance back to family of origin, marriages, education and employment. So they congregated at the discharge port of San Francisco, creating an identifiable gay subculture.

In the early 1980s, AIDS began affecting the male LGBT population of San Francisco, with almost 20,000 people dying within 15 years of the start of the AIDS crisis.

Same-sex marriages were allowed in San Francisco in 2004 but halted until 2013, when the U.S. Supreme Court made them legal again in Hollingsworth v. Perry.
Begun in 2004, San Francisco’s Gay Pride Parade is the largest in the world.
In 2016, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed a law barring the city from doing business with companies that have a home base in states such as North Carolina, Tennessee, and Mississippi, that forbid civil rights protections for LGBT people.
When Mayor London Breed protested San Francisco Pride‘s decision to prohibit police officers from marching in uniform during the 2022 parade, he agreed to a compromise favoring the Gay community in which “Command staff will march in the parade without weapons, in dress uniforms; “fewer than 10” officers in uniforms with weapons will march with them, “in support”; and a third group of SFPD officers will march in civilian clothes allowing SFPD-branded polos.”
What a succinct example of the overturning of a protective government of the people, by the people, and for the people by a minority of socially destructive self-serving people.
Society cannot possibly remain intact under assault against laws of nature.
In 1990, the World Health Organization removed homosexuality per se from the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) [64]. As a result, cultural attitudes about homosexuality changed in the US and other countries as those who accepted scientific authority on such matters gradually came to accept the normalizing view. For if homosexuality was no longer considered an illness, and if one did not literally accept biblical prohibitions against it, and if gay people are able and prepared to function as productive citizens, then what is wrong with being gay?
Additionally…what moral and legal principles should the larger society endorse in helping gay people openly live their lives?
The result, in many countries, eventually led, among other things, to (1) the repeal of sodomy laws that criminalized homosexuality; (2) the enactment of laws protecting the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in society and the workplace; (3) the ability of LGBT personnel to serve openly in the military; (4) marriage equality and civil unions in an ever growing number of countries; (5) the facilitation of gay parents’ adoption rights; (6) the easing of gay spouses’ rights of inheritance; and (7) an ever increasing number of religious denominations that would allow openly gay people to serve as clergy.
Now that’s a massive paradigm shift from
- being abhorred by society as a pathological influence
- to being accepted by social leaders as a normal variant
- be being advocated by social leaders as victims of social oppression
- to being actively promoted as the new norm by social leaders
- to attacking non LBGT institutions and members of society as the enemy to be eliminated from society.
On what basis do we trust that this new social paradigm will result in a positive outcome for our children’s, and our society’s, future? According to the Bible, it is these behaviors that trigger an avalanche effect wiping out families and society.
