Asshur, Assur / Asshur / Ashur was the son of Shem, brother of Arphaxad / Sargon, and Nimrod’s 1st cousin once removed. The name means “a level plain” and “happy“. The abstract meaning of these two words in combination means “successful in war”.
“Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; THEY shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.” (Jeremiah 46:6)
When…mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, THEY stumbled and fell…And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing…[because he does] lead ME in a plain path.” (Psalm 27:6,12)
How he changed the world can be compared to How Shaka Zulu Changed the World.
In 1816, Shaka Zulu took power of his Zulus after distinguishing himself in battle, both physically and strategically, and began a campaign of conquest to unite all of the clans in the region under his rule.
Shaka began with a systematic reorganization of Zulu warriors, implementing a rigid training program, new blade weaponry that replaced the traditional spear, new attack formations and a strict code of obedience. Zulu society — much like Sparta — was entirely restructured to support the army.
In just a couple of years, his army had brutally executed, displaced or assimilated a vast territory with more than 200,000 inhabitants who became his subjects…
Besides creating a political entity in the Zulu Kingdom, Shaka’s military campaigns caused the massive displacement of people, a crisis that became part of a decades-long period of turmoil…
From the 1820s to the 1840s, those who weren’t killed or assimilated by the encroaching Zulu warriors fled, leading to a refugee crisis and reshuffling of South Africa’s traditional settlements. Many groups banded together for security, forming new communities. The tiny nations of Lesotho and Swaziland, both almost wholly enveloped by South Africa, were birthed by tribes escaping the chaos.
Existing famines also worsened…Cannibalism either didn’t happen or occurred very infrequently during this time, historians say…
Originally confederate with Nimrod during the building of the tower at Babylon, Asshur is listed in Genesis 10 as one of the original fathers of nations dispersed from the Tower of Babel.
Recalling the exceptional lifespans and vigor of the first post-flood generation, this person is likely the very individual who usurped the worship system of Enlil / Adam’s God Ani / YHVH, and was himself worshipped as a god by his descendants, the Assyrians. He returned to Babylon to conquer the city, replacing Marduk / Zeus as chief god of Babylon. Assur’s symbol of a winged sun identifies him with Lucifer.
The victory stele of Naram-Sin of Akkad,…depicts the king with a horned helmet (symbolizing divinity) and twice as large as his soldiers [giantism being a feature of hybrids] standing on a mountain that reaches the heavens…
Naram-Sin also proclaimed himself to be a living god (the first Mesopotamian king to do so), making his capital of Akkad not only the political but also the religious center of the empire…
The title of King of the Four Corners suggests that Naram-Sin viewed himself…as a universal ruler…It is possible that šar kiššatim / King of the Universe referred to the authority to govern the cosmological realm whilst “King of the Four Corners” referred to the authority to govern the terrestrial.
As Lucifer had proclaimed “I will…!” now the LORD of hosts responds with his own “No, I will!”
- I will…cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son [Nimrod], and nephew [Asshur] [of Ham]…
- I will also make it a possession for the bittern [heron, i.e. uninhabited by humans]…
- I will sweep it with the besom of destruction…
- I will break the Assyrian [Asshur‘s dynasty] in my land…
In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden. (Isaiah 14:22-28)
Let’s put that prophecy in its historical context.
“Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me. And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria. (II Kings16:7-8)
Note here that Ahaz joined the expansionist Assyrian empire not just by signing his name to a political treaty but by legally changing his own identity to merge with the high king. He became an adopted son of the king who is both human and god.
Get it! That is what Zeus did – he assigned – delegated – adopted sons to expand his realm.
However, Ahaz made the classic error of trusting a lying psychopath for protection.
“Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: Therefore thus saith the LORD God…your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. (Isaiah 28:14-18)
The following passage predicts the demise of the Assyrian Antichrist.
“Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs. The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high [reference to the sea of outer space] with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent her little rivers unto all the trees of the field. Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field…nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty. I have made him fair…Therefore thus saith the LORD God; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height… (Ezekiel 31:3-14)
As promised in chapter 14 of Isaiah referenced above, God did destroy the Assyrian Empire.
As portrayed in the Star Wars series, that didn’t stop the war.
Lucifer’s dystopian universe is a dark mirror image of God’s theocratic political dynasty which is conceptualized as a family three, with life preserved in it so that his heir buds out of the stump years after it was cut down.
“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.” (Isaiah 11:1)
The world tree is central to ancient Aryan / Iranian, Norse and Nazi paganism.
The family tree that branches out into the Babylonian, Assyrian and Neo-Babylonian dynasties is rooted in none other than the notorious serpent / nachash, whose offspring change nationalities but continue his theocratic aspirations.
“Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina / Philistina , because the rod of him that smote thee [the Assyrian] is broken:
- for out of the serpent’s / nachash’s root
- shall come forth a cockatrice / venomous adder [the (Neo)Babylonian]
- and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent / seraph [the Persian]…and he shall slay thy remnant…” (Isaiah 14:29-30)
Notice the family resemblance with the Assyrian successor, the Neo-Babylonian.
Nebuchadnezzar II, the greatest of the Babylonian kings, transformed his father’s kingdom of Chaldea into the Neo-Babylonian Empire, a renaissance of Hammurabi’s original Babylonian Empire 1,000 years earlier. Like Europe’s Renaissance Ancient Greek and Roman paganism, the Neo-Babylonians resurrected the ancient gods, preserved statues and artworks from the earlier Babylonian era, and built many lavish buildings turning the city of Babel / Babylon back into one of the wonders of the world.
Significantly! Nebuchadnezzar did not claim Hammur- abi “Ham is my father’ as his ancestor, but rather Naram-Sin (2254-18), the grandson of the Semitic Akkadian Sargon, thereby claiming descent from a “living god.” In keeping with his association, Nebuchadnezzar is first mentioned in government documents as working in the restoration of the temple of Marduk.
This explains his lofty image of himself.
”I Nebuchadnezzar…saw a dream…a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great. The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth…
”the king Nebuchadnezzar…walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon…and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
… Let his heart / [mission control center, cognitive functioning, as aspect of the soul] be changed from a man’s and let a beast’s [some creature, not a known animal’s] heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him….
We can conclude from this that the beast whose heart – controller of the soul’s motivations, desires, thoughts, understanding – was given to Nebuchadnezzar is a separate entity. In other words, Nebuchadnezzar was possessed by a spirit.
We can parallel Nebuchadnezzar’s state of mind with another ruler driven to rebuild the glory of Babylon.
Evil tyrants are nothing new to the region of Babylon, present-day Iraq. One of the most vicious in history was Nebuchadnezzar (sixth century BCE), the Babylonian king who built the most powerful nation in the world by ruthlessly attacking and annexing neighboring countries…Whenever Nebuchadnezzar made a conquest, he used the stolen wealth to build monuments to his own glory…in his capital city…each brick was inscribed with Nebuchadnezzar’s name.
And so it is in our time. Saddam Hussein pronounced himself as the reincarnation of Nebuchadnezzar, and dreamed of restoring the Babylonian empire to its former size and glory…Saddam commissioned archaeologists to restore the city and…each new brick was inscribed — this time with Saddam’s name.
With his megalomaniacal vision in place, Saddam embarked on a campaign of terror and conquest, first in Iran, then in Kuwait. Ultimately, he dreamed of recapturing Jerusalem.
And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will 1) in the army of heaven, and 2) among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? At the same time my reason returned unto me…and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. (Daniel 4)
Cyrus the Persian
Interestingly, “The final ruler to claim the title [King of the four corners of the world] was the first Persian Achaemenid king, Cyrus the Great, after his conquest of Babylon in 539 BC…in the famous Cyrus Cylinder, an inscription deposited in the foundations of the Esagila temple dedicated to the chief Babylonian god, Marduk. The text of the cylinder denounces Nabonidus as impious and portrays the victorious Cyrus pleasing the god Marduk.”
Wait, what? Wasn’t Cyrus a true believer?
Apparently Cyrus, who was likely a devout Zoroastrian who practiced religious toleration in his empire, allowed Mithraic ministers to express their perspective of his victory. Most likely, like Nebuchadnezzar and Job, he knew enough about the Creator through Zoroastrianism to respect, honor and worship him, but didn’t personally know the LORD God of Everything until he met a Spirit-filled believer who manifested him to Cyrus.
As one of the most knowledgeable ministers in the newly absorbed state, Daniel would have been one of the few men directly interviewed by Cyrus. And don’t you think that Daniel brought to his attention Isaiah’s and Jeremiah’s prophecies, written hundreds of years before Cyrus fulfilled them?
Why do people think God just zaps ideas into our heads, when throughout history he delegates to and collaborates with his anointed people? How much input must Daniel have had into transforming the good king Cyrus into the LORD’s Anointed Ruler of the Four Corners of the World during the Times of the Gentiles.
Put YHVH’s thundering claims against Hammurabi’s. Doesn’t the knowledge of the background pagan rivalry put a whole new spin on these words?
This is not Hammurabi claiming that he was anointed by Marduk.
This is YHVH announcing that he has anointed Cyrus. And well advance of the actual inauguration.
“Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand
- I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and
- I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the [famously strong Babylon] two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
- I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight:
- I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: And
- I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that
- I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect,
- I have even called thee by thy name:
- I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
- I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me:
- I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me.
- I am the LORD, and there is none else.
- I form the light, and create darkness:
- I make peace, and create evil:
- I the LORD do all these things.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker!..
- I have made the earth, and created man upon it:
- I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
I have raised him / Cyrus up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together:
who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. ” (Isaiah 45)
And that pretty much happened through his vizier, Cyrus the Great, whose “dominions composed the largest empire the world had ever seen to that point. At the end of Cyrus’ rule, the Achaemenid Empire stretched from Asia Minor in the west to the Indus River in the east.”
Unfortunately, when freed to return to their land, not enough of God’s chosen / Messianic people cooperated with him, or for long enough, to finalize the take-back of the world from the Adversary.
And Cyrus’ successors did not remain loyal to the true God, but turned to the dark side until God took the kingdom away from them, as he had from the Babylonian, and gave it to the fourth empire.
As had already been predicted.
