The concept of multiple non-physical persons inhabiting a body through which to express themselves in the physical world is confirmed in the Bible.
Gadara was a typical Hellenistic city…under the Seleucids.It was the hometown of the Cynic philosopher Menippus [3rd c. BCE] who invented the genre of mocking narrative satire imitated by later Greek and Latin writers.
In good satiric style Mark 5 portrays Jesus as expelling a demon named “Legion” — the basic unit of the Roman army…Like the satires of Menippus, however, the setting of this exorcism story is purely imaginative, since there are no cliffs in the region…
Uhm, the narrative states “into the country of”, so this is just a sneer at the Bible, not a credible evaluation. Google Maps validates the geographical portion of this narrative.
Umm Qais in Northern Jordan was once the Roman Decapolis city of Gadara. The ruins provide sweeping views over the Sea of Galilee.
“they came over unto the country of the Gadarenes… and when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs;”
A necropolis…is a large, designed cemetery with elaborate tombs.The name stems from the Ancient Greek νεκρόπολις nekropolis, literally meaning “city of the dead”, implies a separate burial site at a distance from a city vs a mausoleum . Etruscan [Roman} necropoli were usually located on hills or slopes of hills.
And Luke provides the legal requirement of a second witness to the events.
“And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not!.
(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name?
Well known requirement in all spirit dealings for obtaining power over another individual.
And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep / bottomless pit.
This prison is defined in the Bible as the holding cell of some really powerful evil spirits.
I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit…And there came out…locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power…they should not kill [the men who not God’s seal of protection], but that they should be tormented five months…as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.” (Revelation 9:1-6)
“I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” (Revelation 20:1-3)
Legion’s linking of torment to being shut up in the bottomless pit is not an exaggeration.
- total deprivation of external sensory input due to lack of sensory organs in a body
- replaced by overwhelming internal pain of exposed nerve endings and status epilepticus of uncontrolled electrical activity.
And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.”
Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear.” (Luke 8)
The reaction of the Gadarenes and Gergasenes is often taught as being triggered by financial concerns, but the documented fact is that they were terrified of the evil spirits who had just been cut loose.
As much as our society was was terrified when confronted by COVID. Who would be the next victims of the infectious agent? Because the spirits’ souls get grounded when they don’t have a body to host the electrical pattern comprising their souls, and the dying pigs had just released the inhabiting spirits’ souls at the same time they released theirs.
The previous post ____established the scientific basis for the purely electrical energy that constitutes a soul, and its grounding like every other energy force upon the loss of the material housing of a body.
Leaving us to investigate how these evil spirits’ souls jump from the soil to the new host.
That’s easy, if you were paying attention during COVID.
Chain of transmission beginning with microorganisms that live in the soil
Most soil microbes can be classified as fungi, bacteria, archaea, protozoa, or viruses. It has been estimated that a single gram of soil can contain up to several billion bacteria alone [more than enough for Legion]…soil microbes are directly associated with…decomposition and nutrient cycling.
These microscopic organisms – the most basic housing for evil spirits – must be what in Greekis called “worms“, into which the evil spirits will be resurrected on judgment day to face the consequences of their choices while alive.
- “I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived / were resurrected and reigned with Christ a thousand years…This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power…
- But the rest of the dead lived not again [were resurrected into bodied] until the thousand years were finished…
[At that time]
- I saw the dead [humans], small and great, stand before God;
- And [fallen angels in] the sea [of outer space] gave up the dead [disconnected from the Singularity Source of Life] which were in it;
- and [pure spirit beings in a state of] death [the process of disconnection] and hell [the bottomless pit place of isolation from the living] delivered up the dead which were in them:”
This is the second death…cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20)

What I’m reading here is that all the resurrected bodies are incorruptible, like the original angels and humans before they fell. Otherwise, how could they stand before God?
The negative side of incorruptible bodies that that they experience eternal torment. And they know the end of their story.
“the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” (Revelation 12:12)
And so are these evil spirits, looking on the bright side and singing “Our day will come, and we’ll have everything!” during the short time the devil is in charge.
We are seeing a resurgence of demonic possession today.
We are the Redwoods. We are nine people living in one body. We identify as multiple.
Multiple is one term, and our preferred term, for describing being many people in one body. While most people have hardly ever heard of multiples, our global numbers are significant.
There is immense diversity around the experience of multiplicity…Many may see themselves in our experiences, and we keep the larger world in mind, yet we do not speak for any group other than the Redwoods.
A common term for a group of people in one body is a system…
Not everyone who shares this experience uses people to describe the members of their system. Other popular terms include parts, personalities and alters. We enjoy people because it humanizes our relationships to our selves and each other, and gives everyone room to grow.
What exactly makes a member of a multiple system?…For us, and many systems, a defining quality is the distinctness of the experience of each individual member: of consciousness, agency, identity, and expression. To illuminate this further, here is a brief comparison of two members of the Redwoods: Alli and Z.
Z identifies as ageless…non-binary trans, specifically neutrois / no gender.
Alli is 19 years old and uses the pronouns she and her…I really identify as vaguely somewhere between 19–21. I operate a lot of our visual life…I love everyone here, but some internal relationships are definitely more established than others, for a variety of reasons…I have a looot of feelings and try to embrace my youth while managing the responsibilities of a slightly older body.
As you can see, they have their own names, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, and experiences of perception. Each of us is self-aware of those experiences, and has evolving reflections on self and others. Alli and Z can share a particular experience, from the mundane to the extraordinary, yet differ in their enjoyment or interpretation of what happened.
Harder to describe is the distinct somatic sensation of each member. How each member feels in the body, and how the body feels to that person, is unique. When Alli is present, she is aware of and relating to the body differently than when Z is present, or “in front.” Each of us relates to this same body from a unique perspective. We have different relationships with the nervous system, and the whole mind-body phenomenon.
In other words, each has a non-material soul housed in the brain, controlling the body to meet its desires.
Wait…, no these spirits penetrated the body of their human host through standard routes of infection.
Like AIDS.
