Political theory describes methods of applying organized control over a nation. The common assumption, portrayed in the many superhero stories, is that the key to overthrowing the oppressor is being the biggest, the strongest, the smartest, or having a unique superpower.
- “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise;
- and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
- And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen,
- yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:” (I Corinthians 1:27-18)
The key to winning dominion over the earth is through the birth of babies, only made possible by the die-off of the many extraneous chromosomes and gametes produced during sexual procreation.
Therefore it is not possible for immortals, only mortals.
And this had unimaginable consequences for Satan who had no idea of this “new thing” that would result from causing the Woman’s death.
Hannah Arendt, the foremost political philosopher of the 20th century, based her radical theories on personal experience of the rise and fall of Nazi Germany. According to this secular philosopher, natality is fundamental to freedom, and the opportunity for a new beginning through birth is the condition that triumphs over the evil empire.
Due to their own newness in the world they are born into, humans are both “new beginnings” themselves and are capable of making them by initiating action…This capacity of making new beginnings in the world is the fundamental human capacity to be free – a capacity possessed by each and every individual.
“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground….And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.” (Genesis 4:25)
Remember, names signify attributes. Each child was different.
And all of humanity, at every moment in time, holds innumerable potential Deliverers.
The number of humans ever born is probably around 80 billion…almost half have been born…since the year 1 AD. One human in five (15 billion) was born during the last two centuries and almost one in ten (7.8 billion) is still alive. This recent pattern of rapid population increase is specific to human beings.
The Adversary’s political science describes two ways to bring under its control the immense power available to overthrow – or to benefit – his agenda.
Power over death by killing. This works best against oppositional-defiant warriors and a surplus of non-beneficial peoples, AKA “useless feeders”.
“Now there arose up a new king over Egypt…And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them…And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him:” (Exodus 1:8-16)
This practice, believe it or not, is still thriving as gender selection at conception and is bring about severe social problems in countries where it is widely practiced.
This is explicitly understood by parents who make the choice to kill their unborn baby for the purpose of improving their financial, social and professional wellbeing.
The early 20th century eugenics program – which the Nazis learned from American social scientists – takes socially sanctioned killing to a higher level, eliminating groups that drain limited financial resources through institutionalization, or threaten perceived genetic superiority through mixed breeding.
The eugenics marketing campaign clearly does not consider every one in society to be part of “us”.
Abortion is legal in Israel up until the moment of birth, and girls under 17 do not need parental consent….An estimated 2 million Israeli children have been aborted since Israel’s founding in 1948. The country has a population of 8 million…. The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM), whose mission is to ‘defend life and family at international institutions and to publicize the debate,’ had nothing to say. The same was true for National Right to Life, Priests for Life, the American Life League and most others….
Interesting when one considers that the holocaust of 6 million Jews is memorialized by this same nation, which was founded to prevent another holocaust.
The second adversarial means of suppressing freedom is to disallow life.
The power to “disallow life to the point of death” (Foucault, 1990: 138) becomes the index of the degree to which life has come under human control and domination...the real “purpose” of totalitarian regimes, irrespective of their ideologies: the “resolution of others to annihilate us first as men in order to kill us more slowly afterwards” (Levi, 1996: 51)…human life is de-humanized in order to create as end-product… an anonymous mass, continually renewed and always identical, of non-men who march and labour in silence, the divine spark dead within them…
Arendt, of course, was familiar with “bare life” in this sense, having dedicated an entire chapter of Origins of Totalitarianism to discuss “the preparation of living corpses” (Arendt, 1973: 451) in the concentration and extermination camps, whose sole result was to achieve “total domination” through the destruction of the “uniqueness” and the “individuality” of human beings (Arendt, 1973: 455)…
In accordance with Nazi ideology the Poles were considered Untermenschen, deemed for slavery…Hitler intended to extensively colonize all territories lying to the east of the Third Reich…[with] the deportation of 45 million “non-Germanizable” people from Central & Eastern Europe to West Siberia; of whom 31 million were “racially undesirable”: including 100% of Jews, Poles (85%), Belarusians (75%) and Ukrainians (65%)…[With] famine, mass executions and slave labour, the Polish nation would eventually be completely destroyed.
Anyone who has experienced domestic abuse will immediately recognize the three essential features in Arendt’s concept of freedom. Or perhaps recognize from these features that they are in an abusive relationship. Or an abusive religion.
- Freedom is uniqueness. The biopolitics of totalitarianism responds with eugenics and genocide.
- Freedom is spontaneity, acting on our own initiative, inserting ourselves into the human world with word and deed. Totalitarianism suppresses free speech in the media and imposes politically correct speech and actions.
- Freedom is the transmission of significant ideas and actions as in stories transmitted to future generations. Totalitarianism controls the stories transmitted through education and the media through their scientific and social authorities.
The creation of man, then, is to be understood exclusively as a functon of the emancipation or redemption of nature, an emancipation that nature cannot achieve out of itself.
Wow. From sheer intellectualization, although a devoted secularist and humanist, Hannah Arendt, one of the most influential political philosophers of the twentieth century, arrives at the same conclusion revealed in the first chapter of the Bible.
