31) No Immortality Without Likeness

The Bible presents an honest offer of a balanced relationship with the Singularity Source of Life.

Frankly, people don’t like it because it doesn’t allow them to do whatever they want. Especially sex. I’ll be honest, as a teenager passing time by daydreaming through sermons in church, I’d pretend there was an alternate reality with no rules against romantic expressions of affection.

I have to admit I learned some hard truths about the laws that ensure the welfare of all humanity, and the intrinsic self-centeredness of anyone rejecting this way of life.

The reality is that the biblical way of life doesn’t establish arbitrary rules of religion. The Bible informs us of irreversible laws of reality in physics and human nature and hyper dimensional states that prevent chaos, entropy, and destruction. The Bible doesn’t threaten punishments by an angry God – except to  psychopaths who ruthlessly damage and destroy the people and world while taking what he/she wants at others’ expense.

For the most part the Bible is written to average people oblivious to the damage we are causing self and others by our self-absorbed behaviors, warning of inevitable consequences of ignoring how reality works, like signs and guard rails along scenic cliffs.

The way one gets saved from destructive forces in this life and the next is briefly stated in the New Testament.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)

Honestly, growing up in a Baptist church where we proclaimed in countless songs and verses and stories and sermons that we needed to believe in Jesus Christ, I never understood exactly what it was we lucky Christians are believing about him.

Turns out you have to start at the beginning if you want to understand the middle and end of the story.

In the beginning was the Word,

  • and the Word was with God,
  • and the Word was God.
  • The same was in the beginning with God

This is proclaiming that the Word is the Singularity in diversity. The following declaration confirms this – the Word is the Singularity Creator.

  • All things were made by him;
  • and without him was not any thing made that was made.
  • In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:1-4

as many as received him [in his proclaimed status as Singularity Creator I Am YHVH], to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name / attributes of  I Am YHVH.” (John 1:12)

“the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he…said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewiseas the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will…

all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” (John 5:18-23)

Humans don’t just wrap up the process of becoming a child of God by “making a decision for Christ“. “Receiving” the Lord YHVH’s Promised Savior means agreeing to unite with him, to express his Singularity in attributes and legacy in by carrying out his will to whatever extent it has been revealed.

Think of a family where only names are shared but not values, and exploitation of the other’s resources is the reason one wants the relationship. This can only result in alienation and conflict.

Every human who agrees to receive Jesus is likewise received by Jesus to the extent that the human acts on the agreement.

“[As in the Old World preparation for marriage] I go to prepare a place for you / the essential self, soulI will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:2-3)

If a human is truly a partner in this relationship, he/she won’t just take what he/she can get from God to serve his self-absorbed activities. He/she will be likewise be preparing for God’s purpose – humanity taking dominion over creation!

work out your own salvationFor it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure…That ye may be…the sons of God, ” (Philippians 2:12-14)

The proof that one has indeed become a son of God is the presence of God’s spirit expressing his righteous characteristics through freely chosen actions consistent with God’s values.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of GodThe Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” (Romans 8:14-16)

A person who takes the name of Christian but fails to take on any of his the Promised Savior’s attributes and behaviors will not be received into the Singularity.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not…thy name?…And then will I profess unto them, I never knew [became intimate with] you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

On the other side:

“whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  1. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
  2. and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
  3. and how shall they hear without a preacher?…

Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.” (Romans 10:13-18)

This biblical passage supports the conclusions drawn from comparing the common denominators of the earliest established religions around the world. Creation and Singularity, not a Europeanized exclusionary New Testament Christianity, is the fundamental belief that provides salvation from eternal destruction.

For example:

Zoroastrianism is arguably the world’s oldest monotheistic religion. It centers on the words of the prophet Zarathushtra, called Zoroaster by the ancient Greeks, and focuses worship upon Ahura Mazda, the Lord of Wisdom. It also acknowledges two competing principles representing good and evil: Spenta Mainyu (“Bounteous Spirit”) and Angra Mainyu (“Destructive Spirit”). Humans are intimately involved in this struggle, holding off chaos and destruction through active goodness…

Ahura Mazda, the Zoroastrian Supreme Creator, is the only god worshiped, although the existence of lesser spiritual beings is also recognized. The overriding ethical principle of Zoroastrianism is Humata, Hukhta, Huveshta: “to think good, to speak good, to act good.” This is the divine expectation of humans, and only through goodness will chaos be kept at bay…

It’s important to note that, because Zoroastrianism is so ancient, beliefs and rituals have changed over time.

26c0714932170a263ec8d2b152072c76And not just Zorostrianism.

Christianity has turned salvation from a shared responsibility to an entitlement based on a ritual.

The resurrection…proves the truth of the Christian faith as opposed to every other belief system that claims to be true. The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead settles the matter as to which of these beliefs is true. It is the Christian faith! Therefore, there is only one God who exists, and only one way to reach the one God, through Jesus Christ. The resurrection of Jesus demonstrates this to be true.

First, let me quell the storm of protest or jubilation by say that I believe the biblical teaching that Jesus Christ is the uniquely begotten Son of God whose resurrection from the dead defeated sin and mortal death. I didn’t spend years studying and writing about this without good reason and most of all a positive outcome of faith in God’s Word in all manifestations.

What I don’t put my faith in is anyone else’s statement without checking it out against scripture.

  1. I’ll just skip over the above obviously false claim that Jesus’ resurrection from the dead proves there is only one God. Scripture calling him the Most High God obviously proves from scripture that there are other gods. Maybe you meant something different, in which case you need to define your terms, sir.
  2. The Bible itself documents “from faith to faith“, so biblically Christianity can’t be claimed to be the only true faith as opposed to every other belief system.
  3. Christianity is a true faith only when it conforms to scripture, yes. But does what a Christian claim conform to scripture?

“I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ [Anointed by God for a responsibility]: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth

  • For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:
  • as it is written, The just shall live by faith….
  • Because that which may be known of God…from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead” (Romans 1:16-23)

So how can Christians think they are the only people in the world who are saved from eternal chaos and misery, especially the ones who deny a Creator in the first place?

The introduction to The Lord’s Prayer lists the qualifications for calling the Lord God our father / provider and protector in whose family we are accepted. And it isn’t a simple creed of saying we’re sorry for our past and future sins and asking Jesus to come into our heart.

It is merging ourself into the Almighty Singularity, starting by admitting what a helpless creature we are and acknowledging his superlative Being and incredible goodness in making a way for us to belong in him.

“And seeing the multitudes, he / Yeshua, YHVH’s Savior went up into a mountain…and taught them, saying,

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven…”(Matthew 5)

Like Zoroastrianism, the ancient Hebrew faith is an example of a saving faith before the atoning death of Jesus Christ in 33 (or so) AD.

“And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day…And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peni-el: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” (Genesis 32:24-30)

Being made a Prince of God clearly made Jacob a Son of God at this time. Notice, to be received and empowered by YHVH he did not have to believe in the person of YHVH’s Savior / Yeshua / Jesus Christ documented by his apostles in what became the New Testament.

  • He simply had to humble himself to call on the name / attributes of the Most High God.
  • believe in the Singularity’s power to overcome the Laws of Nature
  • and to have faith that YHVH was True and Utterly Lawful / Dependable for whatever promises he made no matter how hard to believe.

And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

  • I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
  • Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother…Esau: for I fear him,
  • lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children…And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.” (Genesis 32:9-12)

Not even the followers who believed in Jesus Christ during his 3 1/2 years of ministry believed everything about the man he became known for after his ministry ended.

Most of all – shocking! That he would rose again!

“The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to 1) Simon Peter, and to 2)the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him…

So they ran both together: and…saw the linen clothes lying..And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. [Universal sign to waiters that “I’m not finished yet, I’ll be back soon. Then that other disciple…believed.

For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.” (John 20)

“And as they thus spake, YHVH’s Savior/Yeshua/Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit [which we know can transform into any shape].

And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?…handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have…Have ye here any meat? And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them. And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. (Luke 24:36-51)
