According to biblical prophecy, the end of the world, AKA the Day of the LORD, explodes into action when his chosen ones / messiahs speak out for him at a newly built temple.
We can be sure that this latest temple will, like the previous, be built by permission of Israel’s current political ally which procures concessions from hostile opponents to allow construction, provides military protection against attacks, and promotes itself as the Savior from War and Securer of Peace. This will be another monument to hubris, no house of prayer, another den of thieves raking in a fortune from tourism.
The alliance of Israel’s leaders, especially the religious leaders, with the ungodly militaristic World Empire is the abomination that causes desolation of Israel. See The Fourth Kingdom for details. The sight of this is the red flag for Jesus’ followers to get out of town.
“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
I suspect that at least one understanding that Jesus means is directed towards his two witnesses.
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
All except his two witnesses who stay behind on the front lines, laying their lives on the line.
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes…For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh / mortal life be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” (Matthew 24:15-22)
- “And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein [appraise how closely they align to my instructions].
- But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
- And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.” – Revelation 11:13
There is speculation over who are the two messengers at the temple, with Elijah, Moses and Enoch being top choices due to their miraculous actions. However, Jesus did say that his post-resurrection followers would do even greater miracles than his pre-resurrection servants.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father [leaving you behind to continue my work.] (John 14:12)
- “And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, [may be short hand for stating that they call down fire] and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.” (Revelation 11:5)
- “the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty…And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down. And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty…And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty…So he [the king of Samaria] died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken.” (II Kings 1:9-17)
- These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy” (Revelation 11:6)
- And Elijah the Tishbite…said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” (I Kings 17:1)
- and have power over waters to turn them to blood (Revelation 11:6)
- And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone. And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.” (Exodus 7:19-20)
- and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will (Revelation 11:6)
- And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, In all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land. And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.” (Deuteronomy 34:10-12)
If we follow the pattern of appearances of God’s prophets, these will be two ordinary men who rise to the challenge. Like Moses, Elijah, Elisha, John the Baptist, the apostles etc. after they were filled with the Holy Spirit. The supernatural events brought about by the witnesses are the requisite signs to the Jews proving both the greater power of Christ over Antichrist and their identification with the national God of Israel YHVH who empowered his prophets in the past. Without question these witnesses are preaching the same message the Apostles preached at Herod’s temple. They are exerting the people to reject Caesar Antichrist’s promise of salvation from death, and urging them to accept God’s promise of resurrection after death.
This is THE gospel that has been promised since the day Mr. and Mrs. Adams brought death down on all mankind.
“Now Peter and John went up together into the temple…Ye men of Israel…The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus…those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing / renewal / resurrection shall come from the presence of the Lord. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you…the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people….Ye are the children / followers, students of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities…And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold…Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand….their rulers, and elders, and scribes…the high priest…commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.” (Acts 4)
And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things…and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch…the people magnified them. And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women. Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him…And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought…Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people…And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus [from the dead]… HIM – NOT Antichrist – hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost – NOT the deceptive “life” force from Antichrist – whom God hath given to them that obey him. When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.” (Acts 5)
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them [that would be Satan’s hybrid son Apollo], and shall overcome them, and kill them.
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves…”(Revelation 11:7-9)
This is a common way of desecrating the bodies of the enemy and intimidating their followers into ending their rebellion.
“And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa. And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people. And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Bethshan. And when the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul; All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there. And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.” (I Samuel 31:8-13)
“After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem…in the temple, and said…as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” (John 5)
“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Apparently there are no longer any humans preaching. And it appears that angels flying in heaven have become so common a sight that people aren’t shocked into responding.
Saying with a loud voice, Fear GOD, and give glory to HIM – Not the Dragon and His Beast – for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication [specifically the hybridization of fallen angels and humans]
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name [because they are no longer humans redeemed by the Seed of the Woman.]
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Revelation 14:6-13)
Undoubtedly the bodies of these two witnesses are surrounded by guards. Perhaps these enemies of God are trying to undo the problem encountered in the past when Jesus’ body was left under the supervision of too few soldiers to keep him in the grave.
“Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.” (Matthew 27:62-66)
This is not faithlessness, this is oppositional defiant disorder, from men whose die is cast, and there is no turning back now.
And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
The last and greatest sign! Resurrection from the dead!! The two witnesses knew the hour of their death. They’ve read Revelation, haven’t they!
They must have been dying laughing as their throats were cut or they were shot or however they received their Purple Heart, at the fact that the idiot enemy itself set up this last and greatest proof of the true Christ’s superiority over their imitation Christ, including the wide open view, to prove the fact to the huge on-site crowd and the whole world through 24 hour internet feed!
“Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.” (Psalm 69:22, Romans 11:9)
“The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.” (Psalm 9:16)
And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither.
And…he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth…Then many of the Jews…believed on him.” (John 11:43-44)
“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” (Daniel 12:1-2)
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days…the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven…[which is] the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Matthew 24:29-30)
And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and [finally!!!] gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 11:3-15).
“And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Matthew 24:31)
“And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.” (Revelation 14:14-16)
“with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer…as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee.” (Isaiah 54:7-9)
“In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand…when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?…I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I…he shall baptize you [plural, speaking to a crowd not an individual] with
- the Holy Ghost
- and with fire:
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge / utterly clear his floor, and
- gather his wheat into the garner; [those of you with the Holy Ghost]
- but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire [those of you without].” (Matthew 3:11-12)
And here comes the fire.
“And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.”
Whatever this means has been fully explained earlier in the book.
Where did John get this? Surely any personal revelation from God was confirmed from scripture.
The following is obviously a question – answer responsive reading.
“Who is this that…is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength?
I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save!
Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come!
And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: [For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. (Matthew 24:21-22)
therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies…For he said, Surely they are my people…so he was their Saviour. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them…Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained? Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: [clearly referencing Gentile believers] thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting…Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down…to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!…For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.” (Revelation 14:17-15:1)
And I saw…them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying…all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matthew 25:41)
