“And the LORD God said unto the serpent…I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise [smash down on] thy head [therefore destroy you].” (Genesis 3:15)
When God calls his Savior “the seed of the woman,” he is obviously leaving out the fatherhood. The meaning would have been perfectly clear to his audience.
Satan, Adam and his helpmeet would have understood that the woman would be a single parent.
After all, single parenting was the only known form of reproduction in the entire universe at this time. God had materialized himself as a host of spiritual sons of God and two humans. Adam and his wife were told to multiply before they ate the fruit, so they must have had the ability to do so. Not a problem.
The hydra “accomplishes the feat of apparent immortality by reproducing through budding rather than mating.” Therefore, as detailed in the post Sons of the Gods, all the offspring produced by asexual reproduction are identical to the single parent.
As was the Woman cloned from the Adam.
The reason it is so important to understand the reproduction by cloning of the first man into wo-man is that all the genes that Eve received from Adam and passed down to all of her descendants came from, and can be identified genetically as, not only as hers, but as Adam’s.
This has tremendous implications. God’s plan for the very first ha-Adam / human is accomplished.
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion.” (Genesis 1:26)
But how? There is a conundrum here in that the Adams became mortal in the day they broke away from the Singular Source of Life Energy. We know that death was encoded in the genes and passed genetically to their offspring.
So God turned the conundrum into a paradox.
It is through mortality that salvation from death came to humanity.
The definition of immortal includes changeless. “I am the LORD, I change not.” (Malachi 3:6)
The biblical definition of the opposite condition of mortal is not dies, but changes. We implicitly know that from the processes of sickness, injury, and aging, and the Bible explicitly states this.
“We shall not all sleep / die, but we shall all be changed…For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” (I Corinthians 15:51-52).
The only way the Seed of the Woman could change from the parent – be different in any of the vast number of characteristics from the parent – including change back from mortal to immortal – is through a reproductive process which involves degeneration and death to characteristics of the parent.
And this is another aspect of dying that occurred “in the day”.
In any form of reproduction the essential feat is duplicating the chromosomes – the systems driver and software controlling the complex functions of each of the body’s cells. DNA is compacted into genes resembling beads then strung into chromosomes resembling a twisted rope necklaces.
A set of at least two chromosomes are required for functional cells. At the least, this provides backups for any damaged genes. A matched set of chromosomes, each set varying in length and the genes carried, link together in the middle
In asexual reproduction – known as mitosis – the exact full set (referred to as 2N for a matched set) of duplicated chromosomes are passed to the reproductive cell, producing identical offspring.
A different process – meiosis – does not simply reproduce the chromosomes into new cells. It adds another phase of shuffling the genes across the corresponding chromosomes, then dividing the sets of chromosomes in half, resulting in cells with only 1N, or half of the full set of chromosomes, each one different from all the other cells produced in this shuffling process. Think of it like shuffling and dealing a deck of cards. Each hand is different.
Then, since only half the required genes are provided, the other
half must be provided by a second parent.
This is what we know as sexual reproduction of gametes – egg and sperm cells. And it is only made possible by the die-off of the many extraneous cells produced during this process, so is not possible for immortals.
“Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing.” (I Timothy 2:14-15)
This has been interpreted as God grudgingly providing penitence for all womenkind.
An alternative way of understanding this single sentence is to see it as describing reality-based consequences that we understand perfectly well in the physics dimension, but not so much in the spirit dimension.
Humans were given authority to make things happen. Our actions trigger irretrievable reactions. What we do really and truly reverberates through our universe and impacts our world – for good or bad. We are not action figures for God to pick up and reposition when we fall. For him to do so would take away our power, our autonomy, our ability to be free individuals and meaningful change agents.
The woman was deceived when she transgressed the law, causing death to come upon all her offspring. The man chose to join her in full knowledge that he was sacrificing himself for her out of love.
Therefore it was the woman’s responsibility to make things right.
The exact way the woman provided corrective action for causing death to come on all mankind is by – what else? – the equal and opposite reaction. The woman gives life to all humanity through the mitochondria passed down to all humans in her seed / egg cell.
Wow. How straightforward a solution is that?
The most prominent roles of mitochondria are to produce the energy currency of the cell…and to regulate cellular metabolism…However, the mitochondrion has many other functions…
its DNA uses a different code from the DNA in the nuclei of the cells of the body…Inherited only from the mother through the egg cell, the father’s sperm does not contribute its mitochondria…
This allows DNA analysis which has scientifically determined there is a mitochondrial Eve, the ancestor of all human beings.
Even science has determined (to its chagrin) that every living person can be traced back to one original ancestress through the unique set of genes found not in the cell’s nucleus but only in the cell’s mitochondria, and passed down intact to every offspring in the maternal egg. None of the male’s mitochondria are merged into the fertilized egg.
Through analysis of mitochondrial DNA obtained from females of various ethnic backgrounds, researchers have determined that all humans alive today descended from one female, commonly referred to as ‘Eve’,
So pure scientific evidence supports the biblical account of creation.
who lived approximately 7600 generations ago.”
Immediately a number of assumptions are imposed to calculate this time frame by the anthropologists,
- beginning with what conditions altered Eve’s DNA,
- and how quickly, to differentiate the various ethnicities.
It is impossible, scientifically, to go back in time to detect this, while existing scientific studies of current conditions subjecting genes to rapid mutations are ignored.
“…the RERF studies include a large and representative population sample, rely on a fairly accurate estimation of a single irradiation dose, with a wide range of exposure within the cohort, and have been able to follow in detail this population (as well as its offspring) for more than half a century. They have, in fact, been essential to defining the legal limits for radiation exposure from nuclear activities, which are currently 1 mSv/year for the general public and 20 mSv/year for workers in the nuclear industry.
The picture obtained from these extensive and careful studies is very different from the impressions that prevail…even among many scientists [emphasis added] (Perko 2014)…it is generally thought that…extensive mutations are common among the children of irradiated survivors, when in fact the follow-up of 77,000 such children (excluding children irradiated in utero) fails so far to show evidence of deleterious effects (Douple et al. 2011; Grant et al. 2015).
Wilson felt uneasy about using the term “Eve” because it caused many to think that she was the only woman living at that time, much like what is written in Genesis of the Bible concerning Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden…the usual evolutionary time-scale for man did not allow such a short time as 200,000 years. Rather, it is believed that man has been around for a much longer period of time.
Another assumption factored into this mathematical formula deriving 200,000 years from 7600 generations is that each generation is separated by 25 years.
- This anthropological allocation is inconsistent with the other social sciences which arbitrarily assign only 10 years to each generation for study purposes.t
- Furthermore, it is common knowledge that new generations are born every single day to different families
- Generations can even leapfrog over each other within the same family.
So this accounting system is patently rigged. This is clearly done to avoid matching the results of this study with the biblical account of creation.
Any person with some knowledge of how to conduct a scientific study should be able to recognize at this early point in the presentation that
- Perdue University starts with researcher bias,
- rejects out of hand any hard data from ancient Hebrew documents preserved for thousands of years,
- and inputs unprovable assumptions to remain consistent with its a priori “theory” of evolution.
It is unprovable by science’s own standards, but is in fact simply one of many religious belief systems from which people seek self-empowerment.
Evolutionists have come to believe that Eve must have been one of many women of her time, in a genetic bottleneck.
The story of the mitochondrial Eve is not what paleoanthropologists wanted to hear. [So much for scientific objectivity.] They did believe that man came from Africa, but they believed it happened one million years ago.
So, there seems to be no way for all the data to presently fit together.
Additional scientific genetic analysis provides support for the ancient Hebrew documents registered as Genesis. The sixteen grandsons of Noah became the ancestors of the nations, or haplotypes, that repopulated the earth as we know it today.
Analysis of male Y chromosome samples obtained from throughout the globe reveals the existence of some 10 “descent groups” or haplotypes…”
“Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations / ethnicities divided in the earth after the flood.” (Genesis 10)
The loss of six descent groups is easily recognized as having occurred through amalgamation with other groups, or utter extermination.

The practice of resettling population groups was a key constituent of the structural set up of Ancient Near Eastern states, including the Assyrian Empire…the ultimate goal of the Assyrian resettlement policy was to create a homogeneous population with a shared culture and a common identity – that of “Assyrians”.
On the other hand, we’ve always got genocide.
the near-total destruction of the Western Hemisphere’s native people was neither inadvertent nor inevitable…
population relocation, forced labor, dietary change, and other harms done to Indigenous people “were destructive in andof themselves in complex ways and often operated with disease to reduce American Indian populations…”
colonial authorities and newly independent states throughout the Americas continued to wage war against Indigenous people and engage in genocidal violence…
many Indigenous nations in what is today the United States were “removed, relocated, dispersed, concentrated, or forced to migrate at least once after contact with Europeans or Americans…”
the total number of Indigenous deaths throughout the Western Hemisphere between 1492 and 1900 appears to be about 175 million…
By any reckoning, the Indigenous Holocaust in the Western Hemisphere was…“the worst human holocaust the world had ever witnessed.”
“Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children…” (Genesis 3:16)
This verse has been interpreted as describing God’s punishment on Eve through painful childbirth. Our interpretation of why the woman suffers in childbearing is based on our impression of God. Is he a tyrant who brutally punishes slaves who displease him, or a loving, faithful, trustworthy father who patiently guides and disciplines his children through their free-will chosen experiences for their safety, character development, personal insight, maturation and ultimate empowerment? God’s actions toward the woman whose sin rocked the universe should be interpreted from the perspective of his faithfulness, love, mercy and forgiveness towards humanity.
We should be amazed at the trust the Creator continues to put in humanity after the woman blew it.
The person responsible for corrupting humanity is who God partnered with in redemption.
That isn’t a curse. That is a blessing.
The overwhelming popularity of stories about the average person risking their life to save others proves that humanity understands that suffering is not a punishment. It is the proof of character in our choices to stay involved with those who need us.
By our actions on behalf of others we mature into caring adults, becoming more insightful, wise and sensitive. The more we suffer – using empathy at the least, and through sacrificing ourselves to save others at most, the more loving we become – and the more like God we become.
Ominously, there has been a titanic shift away from cultural exaltation of mortal human saviors to Superhero hybrid saviors. This reveals how much our 21st century culture has become childish and irresponsible. We reject personal responsibility – unlike The Greatest Generation who laid down their lives in a desperate global war. We want someone else to take on all the effort for us.
Films reflect the tastes and values of the period in which they are made…So when historians look back at this glut of superhero flicks, what will they say about us? What are they about?…
If heroes are idealized humans, then today’s reflect an exaggerated Cult of Self. They are unique, supremely talented beings who transcend laws, even those of nature…The old American ideal of succeeding through cleverness, virtue and grit is absent, as is the notion of ordinary folk banding together to overcome a threat…Gone is respect for the rule of law and the importance of tradition and community. Institutions and human knowledge are useless. Religion is irrelevant. Governments are corrupt and/or inept, when not downright evil…
The superhero is an alien or outcast who possesses unique powers…Normal humans are mere bystanders…The average person is powerless and depends for survival on the good will of the gods…
The simple human woman who partnered with God in saving the world didn’t blow through the experience like Superwoman. She experienced tremendous suffering, not so much in childbirth despite its very real pain and risk of death, as in loss of her reputation from a legalistic community assuming that she was a slut, struggling to mother a brood of resentful sons hostile to their “illegitimate” brother, watching her beloved baby’s destiny play out, whether it was Abel who was murdered because he did the right thing, or Cain, who as the murderer was banished, or peace-loving Solomon who was forced to fight for his inheritance, or Yeshua who endured torture as he died for the sins of the world. She would have, like you or me, traded places with her child if she could have.
But there is a positive side to death if we are willing to accept responsibility for ourselves rather than blame our problems on others.
The fact that we deteriorate and die gives us the capacity to rid the undesirable parts of ourselves in order to grow and develop, to make a new beginning and a new life for ourselves by our choices.
We see this in the physical dimension through the normal daily process of death and regeneration of cells at the rate of about 50 per second, which gives us the option of replacing our unhealthy bodies with healthy.
In the soul dimension, mood disorders like depression and anxiety can be changed by replacing old thoughts with new. This is the basis of psychotherapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and has been the basis of biblical counseling for millennia. This actually results in physically replacing existing, automatically recurring neural pathways in the brain structure with new neurons and pathways.
Change also happens in the spirit dimension, where it seems, as with the physical, mental and emotional, there is no stasis. The decisions we make and actions we take lead us inexorably down a path of a worsening or improving moral condition based on acceptance – and application – of truth or lies. Tragically, it is more common to see people, even proclaimed Bible-believers AKA Christians, becoming more and more firmly entrenched in the Adversary’s deceptions, and worse yet, the lies we tell ourselves.
“Broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait [i.e. preventing actions like a strait jacket on a dangerously out-of-control individual in a psych ward] is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life” (Matthew 7:13-14)
Alternately, we can become more and more receptive to God’s truth, beginning with our sorry selves admitting just how self-centered and hypocritical we are, with the ultimate change becoming freed from the destructive forces of sin.
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:8-9)
Not just the Christian concept of Jesus Christ as the Seed of the Woman, but all human beings are the Seed of the Woman and, made in God’s likeness of Singularity in diversity through mortality, each child is different.
And this had unimaginable consequences for Satan who had no idea of this “new thing” that would result from causing the Woman’s death.
“…and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born…that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan…” (Revelation 12:4,9)
Satan did, in fact, destroy Eve’s first two children – by turning Cain to the dark side and inciting him to murder Abel. No doubt Satan thought, once again, that he had gotten the victory.
“And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.” (Genesis 4:25)
Remember, names signify attributes. Seth was so different from Cain. And here is where we encounter how valuable differences can be.
Political theory describes methods of applying organized control over a community of humans. The common assumption, portrayed in the many superhero stories, is that the key to overthrowing the oppressor is being the biggest, the strongest, the smartest, or having a unique superpower.
It is through the birth of babies.
- “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise;
- and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
- And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen,
- yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:” (I Corinthians 1:27-18)
Hannah Arendt, the foremost political philosopher of the 20th century, based her radical theories on personal experience of the rise and fall of Nazi Germany. According to this secular philosopher, natality – the opportunity for a new beginning through birth – is the condition that triumphs over the evil empire.
Due to their own newness in the world they are born into, humans are both “new beginnings” themselves and are capable of making them by initiating action…This capacity of making new beginnings in the world is the fundamental human capacity to be free – a capacity possessed by each and every individual.
The Adversary learned this lesson. He uses infanticide for the purpose of maintaining control over enslaved peoples.
“Now there arose up a new king over Egypt…And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them…And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him:” (Exodus 1:8-16)
Abortion is legal in Israel up until the moment of birth, and girls under 17 do not need parental consent….An estimated 2 million Israeli children have been aborted since Israel’s founding in 1948. The country has a population of 8 million…. The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM), whose mission is to ‘defend life and family at international institutions and to publicize the debate,’ had nothing to say. The same was true for National Right to Life, Priests for Life, the American Life League and most others….
Interesting when one considers that the holocaust of 6 million Jews is memorialized by this same nation, which was founded to prevent another holocaust.
But it is true that natality – new life – is only made possible by death
This is explicitly understood by parents who make the choice to kill their unborn baby for the purpose of improving their financial, social and professional wellbeing. The early 20th century eugenics program – which the Nazis learned from American social scientists – takes socially sanctioned killing to a higher level, eliminating groups that drain limited financial resources through institutionalization, or threaten perceived genetic superiority through mixed breeding. The eugenics marketing campaign clearly does not consider every one in society to be part of “us”.
This is where natality comes into play as such a powerful political force. There is always someone on standby with the potential to lead a revolution against the status quo. This concept is illustrated perfectly in the thought provoking novel Making History by Stephen Fry. At any moment of need one individual out of millions has just what it takes to rise above the madding crowd, providing leadership for masses of disparate individuals, each contributing unique skills and resources into one new political identity.
Natality, the idea of a hero inspiring a mass movement to save entire people groups seems to be inherent in the human psyche. This universal theme underlies the most captivating stories across time and cultures. The Star Wars series not only runs on this theme but also incorporates the concept of natality. (Spoiler alert!)
- 1. Episode I – III: Anakin Skywalker is believed to be the Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force, therefore peace and prosperity to the galaxy. However, like Cain, he is seduced by the dark side, transforms into Darth Vader and plunges the galaxy into an era of death and destruction under the control of the evil Empire.
- Rogue One: Jyn Erso, like Abram under Nimrod, risks her life to free mankind from enslavement to the evil Empire.
- Episode IV – VI: Luke Skywalker leads the rebellion that ends the evil Empire’s tyrannical rule, and through love leads his father / war lord of the opposition back to the Force of light and life. Luke would be the parallel to Jesus Christ, with the Apostle Paul representing Darth Vader..
- The Force Awakens – The Last Jedi: Rey brings new hope to a galaxy once again on the brink of war. This parallels Christ’s Second Coming.
A myriad of spin-off Chosen Ones draws literary inspiration from the biblical prophesied child to come. Notice how his birth is presented in the political context of war and peace.
“For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:5-7)
