Key precept: A son of God is a being who is created in God’s likeness including his spiritual immortality, power, and righteousness.
The designation of “son of God” as any being who is “a chip off the old block”, made in the likeness of God, having his attributes, is easily understood when we compare this with the designation “son of man” or “wo-man” which signifies being made in the likeness of man.
“In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him…And Adam…begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image…” (Gen 5:1-3)
“…she shall be called Wo-man, because she was taken out of Man.” (Gen 2:23)
The key likeness of God that mark all his offspring is a nature that is right-eous, truthful, and holy.
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (Joh 4:24)
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;” (I Pet 1:15)
I think we are all familiar with the Lord’s Prayer, AKA The Our Father. Are we as familiar with the introduction, which lists the qualifications for calling the Lord God “our” father?
“And seeing the multitudes, he / Yeshua, YHVH’s Savior went up into a mountain…and taught them, saying,
- Blessed are the poor [acknowledging their need] in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are they that mourn [over sin]: for they shall be comforted.
- Blessed are the meek: [like Moses, gentle with his charges despite wielding the unlimited power of Almighty God himself] for they shall inherit the earth.
- Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
- Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
- Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
- Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
- Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven…
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven…except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven…
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Be ye therefore perfect / complete, faithfully reproducing the original, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect…
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven…For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” (Matthew 5-6)
“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven“, so blandly recited in the Lord’s Prayer, is essential to understanding the underlying conflict between heaven and earth throughout all of earth’s history.
The practitioners of hermetic magic rebel against God’s will being done and replace it with the magician’s will being done through secret knowledge of rituals and incantations. Such an individual is clearly not a “son of God” but, as we shall see, may be a “son of a god”.
Because humans are called sons of God, some people have the mistaken impression that all sons of God are human. This is neither logical nor factual, and causes the holder of this false assumption to miss essential information. Remember, names identify characteristics and capabilities which can be found in many different individuals, like “Mr. President”. This is a key concept, so file that thought away.
The beings who are called by the title “son of God” include:
- the heavenly beings popularly known as angels, created in the very beginning, before humans, for the purpose of serving mankind.
“Then the LORD…said…when I laid the foundations of the earth…all the sons of God shouted for joy…” (Job 38:1-7)
“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. [Note how this evil being can’t be categorized with the sons of God.” (Job 1:6)
“But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” (Hebrews 1:13-14)
2. Adam, the first human, created, not begotten.
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over…all the earth…so God created man…” (Genesis 1:26-27)
“Which was the son of…which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.” (Luke 3:38)
3. Human co-rulers with God of his kingdom from any era, begotten, not created.
“...so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel: And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest…Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house [dynasty]. And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.” (II Samuel 7)
4. The uniquely begotten God-man, Christ Jesus, who triumphs over the opposition to fulfill God’s commitment that humanity, not the gods / aliens, takes dominion over creation.
“…Yahweh’s Consecrated Savior / Christ Jesus, Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But…was made in the likeness of men…unto death…” (Philippians 2:5-8)
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (I Timothy 3:16)
“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ / Promised One, the Son of the living God.” (Matt 16:13-16)
“I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.” (Dan 7:13-14)
5. Humans who identify with YHVH’s Promised Savior / Jesus Christ’s death to sin and resurrection to a new creation from any era of history or culture, commonly known in our era and language as Christ-ones.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ / the Promised Deliverer, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17)
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)
The creation of any son of God involves forming a body, creating a soul with personality, intellect, reasoning, will, and emotions, and sparking the soul to immortal life through permanent connection with the source of life – the Spirit of God.
The difference between the types of sons of God is the type of body.
“But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.” (I Cor 15:28-40)
- Angels received a celestial, immortal body from their beginning.
“Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts…Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.” (Psa 148:2-6)
2. The first human son of God, Adam, was made with a terrestrial body that could, and did, become mortal.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Gen 2:7)
“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die [DNA mutated to lose telomeres in a countdown to death].” (Gen 2:17)
We know this as “Original Sin”. What exactly was that sin? In yet another childish Sunday School definition we are taught that it is disobeying God. Yes, there is that. But there is a higher level of responsibility that this explanation overlooks. It’s like saying that a police chief was dismissed for breaking the rule of no smoking in the men’s room, when the bigger issue is that while away from his post he failed to do his job which was to prevent loss of life and property during a major bank heist. This is the fundamental definition of sin given by Yhvh’s Promised Savior in his first major address. Apply this to Adam who was given the job of taking dominion over the earth, only possible by exercising his Father’s right-eous will on earth. When Adam failed to do the right thing the inevitable result was damage and death as much as if a surgeon did the wrong thing during a heart surgery.
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect…Thy will be done…” (Matthew 5:48, 6:9)
The apostle Paul reiterates this definition of sin by stating that it is the condition of failing to meet God’s perfect standard of doing the right thing.
3. The only begotten Son of God was born with a mortal body that became immortal. How? Logically, simply, by reversing the destructive process that transformed the first human body from immortal to mortal. Whereas Adam was conquered by sin, Jesus conquered sin by living a perfectly right-eous life. Think of it like conquering the destructive forces of substance abuse. The addict can only conquer addiction by refusing to drink or do drugs. We know that an alcoholic’s liver and even brain regenerate after they are no longer damaged by toxic substances. At a higher degree of this process, Jesus’ entire body regenerated to immortal. In his case it was because he had never damaged it in the first place. His resurrection proved that God had judged him, declared him innocent of any sin, therefore overturned the death sentence.
“Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:” (Romans 1:3-4)
But the injustice Jesus experienced, acknowledged even by a corrupt human justice system, can’t just be ignored. Even our human society makes laws awarding reparations to balance the scales of justice. How much more the inflexible moral code of an absolutely just God? But what can you give the Son of God who literally already owns everything?
“Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest [my home]? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word…Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake…he shall appear to your joy…” (Isaiah 66:1-2,5)
Ahh! The one thing money can’t buy and power can’t force. Love. Given freely, with the whole, undivided heart, in total unity, two becoming one, forming a family.
“For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings….Behold I and the children which God hath given me. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.” (Hebrews 2:10-15)
In another reversal of the normally selfish human nature, proving Jesus Christ has God’s selfless nature, the immutable law of God’s justice is balanced, like the immutable Law of the Conservation of Energy by transferring sin onto Jesus Christ. This is understandable scientifically by epigenetics, the genetic inheritance of parental behaviors. A simple analogy is copying files of command codes from one computer to another.
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (II Corinthians 5:21)
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:” (I Peter 2:24)
4. Humans who become sons of God by choosing to to identify with Yhvh’s Promised Seed of the Woman / Jesus Christ also receive immortal bodies in the future Day of Judgment.
“He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name [of Yhvh’s Promised Seed Savior]: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth…No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father [the only one close enough to hear whispered secrets], he hath declared him.” (John 1:12-14,18)
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (I Joh 3:2)
“… the resurrection of the dead…It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump [final call to battle].” (I Cor 15:42-52)
“In my Father’s house are many mansions [permanent indestructible dwellings like those that have endured on earth for thousands of years, unlike tents or wooden houses]: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (Joh 14:2-3)
“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle [temporary housing like a tent for camping] were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven…that mortality might be swallowed up of life.” (II Corinthians 5:1-4)
The body of the original human son of God was made in the image of God.
“Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.”
“…upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.” (Eze 1:26-28)
We can induce that bodies of some of the angelic sons of God are also made in the image of God, since they look like humans.
“In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks…I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz…And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me…(Dan 10:2-18)
However, this is not true of all angelic sons of God. Some look like animals. This concept and its significance to us will be explored in a later post.
“And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man’s hand under their wings… And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.” (Eze 10:8-15)
The cherubim are carried in something that at first seems to be a self-controlled high tech vehicle, but is also, like a horse, a sentient living being. The closer you examine biblical descriptions of hyperdimensional encounters the more Hollywood’s depictions pale in comparison.
“And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone. And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went. And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel. And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them. When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them. Then the glory of the Lord departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims. And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the Lord‘s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.” (Eze 10:9-19)
So also are there gates from which the stars go forth as they are commanded, and in which they set according to their number. I saw likewise the chariots of heaven, running in the world above to those gates in which the stars turn, which never set. (Enoch 74:14-15)
We are most familiar with Western poetry that repeats ending sounds in a rhyme. Fortunately, for its ability to translate well, Hebrew poetry repeats thoughts in a rhythm so we understand that
2) star is another name for these sons of God.
“When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy…” (Job 38:7)
Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Praise ye him, all his angels…all his hosts...all ye stars of light.“(Psa 148:1-3)
This passage clearly states that these beings’ territory, or real estate, is in the heavens, what we call outer space (note, that defines an inner space on this side of a boundary), where they function in dimensions inaccessible to humans on earth.
Both the astrophysicists and the quantum physicists now tell us that we apparently live in a hyperspace of more than four dimensions—ten is a current estimate…It is also interesting that the Hebrew sage known as Nachmonides, writing in the 13th century, concluded from his study of the Book of Genesis that the universe has ten dimensions, but only four of them are “knowable” by man.
The brightest minds in the field of physics are attempting to gain control, through knowledge of, the forces of creation, the nature of light, and the dimensions beyond time and space to which humans are currently limited. But this is not a new field of study. Amazingly complex and accurate knowledge of astronomy is found in the most ancient cultures, as well as astrology – belief in and study of the stars’ influence over human affairs. The Bible informs humans that he made the stars and therefore holds the power, which he delegates as he pleases. Notice that these lights “rule” and “divide the light from the darkness” which we previously determined to mean cycles of control by righteous and evil spirit beings. Apparently the sun, moon, and stars are sentient beings, beyond the wildest imaginings of science fiction.
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.” (Gen 1:16-18)
Some of those lights we call stars in the sky apparently are spirit beings formerly known as sons of God who are no longer in his heavenly estate, defeated during a rebellion and apparently locked into the solid firmament.
“…how should man be just with God? If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand. He [God] is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger. Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.” (Job 9:2-10)
“Where wast thou…When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth…and set bars and doors, And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken…Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth [the zodiac] in his season? Or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? Canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? (Job 38:31-32).
The zodiac, which, despite its utter lack of discernible “connect the dots” images correlating to its signs, is amazingly portrayed with similar images in diverse cultures around the world, pointing back to a common origin. It provides an ancient and universal means of spreading the gospel. This is the most important way the stars influence human affairs – witnessing of God in one way or another.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4)
“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” (Revelation 14:6-7)
The stars also influence human affairs by fighting God’s battles. They are powerful warriors, working in partnership with humans.
“LORD, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped…They chose new gods; then was war in the gates...The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo…They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.” (Judges 5:4-20)
3) Ministers is a fancy title for “servant” in God’s kingdom, with governing responsibilities in representation, communication, courts of law, humanitarian aid, support, education, defense.
“But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” (Hebrews 1:13-14)
They rule within a hierarchy of delegated authority, so we find they are called
4) princes, rulers, and powers.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph 6:12)
This passage clearly states that behind the flesh and blood human rulers of this world are immortal spirit beings – righteous angels carrying out God’s government and fallen angels fighting to overthrow him. Believers should understand this, and not rely on favorite political candidates to solve our problems, nor pin every conspiracy on the Freemasons, Illuminati or Rothschilds. As bizarre and ultimate conspiracy lunacy as this sounds, if you trust the Bible for salvation you have to accept the rest of what it says about good and evil. Human power brokers don’t work alone, they carry out the schemes and strategies of their rebel angelic (AKA alien) overlords / fathers.
Daniel is a good example of this situation. His identity as a “son of God” is expressed in his name Dani-el, which can be broken down to recognize that “El” identifies him as belonging to the God of Isra-el, i.e. “El” is his family name, i.e. he is a son of God. The same is true of his famous companions with “iah” / Yah(weh) in their names. The point of changing these sons of Gods’ names was to adopt them into other gods’ families.
Daniel’s position in first the Babylonian then the Persian governments was essentially the CIA, the top secret agency that every government has to gather and hide strategic information.
“In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks…I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz…Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia…Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince. (Dan 10:2-21)
In the context of intelligence-gathering agents they are also called
5) watchers. We can also think of this role as border-crossing or security guards who monitor dangerous individuals to protect their charges.
“I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and [the same individual is also] an holy one came down from heaven; He cried aloud, and said…Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him. This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen.” (Daniel 4:13-18)
The additional title in this passage of
6) holy ones references their righteous character and greatest likeness with God. Don’t miss the statement that God delegates authority to these heavenly beings to decree and demand. They are Supreme Court
7) judges in a divine council that gathers evidence and makes decisions based on the highest law of the land. While God has the ultimate say, he doesn’t dictate every detail himself. He entrusts the details to his sons, as any good father does, to train his children to assume responsibility.
“…I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.” (II K 22:19-22)
Does this mean that God lies? No. He simply allows choices, which requires the opportunity to act on an appealing lie instead of the uncomfortable truth, to do wrong instead of right. More on that later.
“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” (Jam 1:13-14)
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition…whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion [through politicians if he follows the same strategy as described in II Kings 22], that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (II Thess 2:3-12)
Another translation of “holy ones” is
“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” (Jude 14-15)
“Behold, the day of the LORD cometh…For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle…Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle…And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives…and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.” (Zech 14:1-5)
“The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shineth forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.” (Deu 33:2-3)
Any large assembly of individuals is called a
9) host, usually in the context of an army. Interestingly, hyper dimensional horses and “chariots” are reported, perhaps using known images in a feeble attempt to describe what was surely indescribable. Although, while horse cavalry was largely replaced by motorized vehicles during WWII, horses are still a part of highly technological modern armies. Ezekiel puts a lot of effort into describing heavenly entities that, in our day, are categorized as UFOs.
“…the king of Syria…sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host…And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth…his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! How shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed…And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” (II K 6:17)
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war…and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses...” (Rev 19:11-14)
In the context of battles angels are called
10) mighty ones. More on this later.
“…when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (II Thess 1:7-8)
“…angels…are greater in power and might [than humans].” (II Pet 2:11)
The most surprising name for these beings is
11) gods. This expresses their hyper-dimensionality, i.e. ability to operate outside of time and space to empower and benefit humans asking / praying for their help.
“…because I [Nebuchadnezzar] know that the of the holy gods is in thee [Daniel], and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.” (Dan 4:9)
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Gen 2:7)
“Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:..I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Isa 42:5-8)
Almighty God does transmit power and shares authority with his created sons. Some of the mighty angels abused their delegated power and authority, making themselves the very source of power over success or failure, life and death, to be prayed to directly, and worshipped themselves. These are the false gods of ancient religions and the new age spirits.
“God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy…I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit the nations.” (Psa 82)
“Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? …he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken…” (Joh 10:34-35)
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God.” (Ex 20:3-5)
“…when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature [i.e. have no intrinsic powers, only powers given them by the true God] are no gods…” (Gal 4:8)
“…I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish [because those gods will deceive you and lead you into a trap]...” (Deu 30:16-18)
“For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many and lords many,) but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Yahweh’s Chosen Savior/Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” (I Cor 8:5-6)
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.“(Ro 1:18-25)
The theory of evolution has been invalidated by science itself through advances in technology. The cell has far too much irreducible complexity with its parts far too interdependent to have developed greater complexity and functionality by random chance molecular changes. Rather, such mutations result in cancerous cells, corruption and death. The discovery of DNA, the amazing biological “software” code which controls the form and function of every living creature, has forced science to acknowledge Intelligent Design.
Rather than concede that there is one Almighty God, however, the loss of faith in Evolutionism has given rise to the theory of directed panspermia, the belief that extra-terrestrial beings more highly developed than ourselves seeded and developed life on Earth. These, of course, are the gods of the ancient world, called Annunaki in Sumerian culture.
“Zecharia Sitchin believes that the Annunaki genetically engineered modern day humans…” He is not a spaced-out abberation. Highly functional power brokers in industry, religion and politics believe in extraterrestrials / aliens, and the probability that they will shortly fully disclose themselves to mankind. This theory, of course, simply pushes the primary question further back in time – how did these extraterrestrials come into being? The Bible made this disclosure thousands of years ago, warning us of their false claims of coming in peace to bring life. Later posts detail that they really come in war to bring death.
One characteristic of a god is the ability to operate outside of time, which means outside the physical constraints of a material body, as a
12) spirit. This is the most common way of communicating with humans, even entering into a human’s body to empower and control it. More on this in a later post.
“Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof. In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men, Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying...” (Job 4:12-16)
“And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/ Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/ Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” (Act 19:11-16)
The name by which these beings are most often called,
13) angel, is a transliteration of the Greek word for messenger or ambassador, and is translated in both the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament as such. This should be understood as an expression of their primary function in bridging the gap between the four-dimensional material domain limiting human functioning and the multidimensional spirit domain allowing access to greater knowledge and power.
“And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” (Gen 28:12-17)
In the following account notice the chain of communication as
- human Zecharaiah sees
- a man and horses which
- an angel interprets and also relays messages to and from
- the LORD of hosts / God himself who doesn’t speak directly to Zecharaiah.
“…in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah…I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees…and behind him were there red horses…Then said I, O my lord, what are these?
- (Angel) And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be…
- (Man) And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said…
- (Angel) Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts…
- (LORD) And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me…
- (Angel) So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts…
- (Zechariah) Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these?
- (Angel) And he answered me…
- (Zechariah) Then said I, What come these to do?
- (Angel) And he spake, saying…” (Zech 1:7-21)
And, finally, they are also called
14) men, because they can look like hu-mans.
“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship.” (Jos 5:13-15)
“Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre…And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” (Lu 24:1-7)
Every angelic identity described above is also applied to certain empowered humans who identify with God as their father, i.e. absolute authority (more on this in a later post), and are accepted by him as evidenced by the bestowing of his name / characteristics – righteousness and immortality.
“Concerning his Son Yahweh’s Chosen Savior / Yeshua Messiah / Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.” (Ro 1:3-4)
“For when they [humans] shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.” (Mar 12:25)
1) Sons of God:
“Then said God…in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.” (Hosea 1:9-10)
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (Joh 1:12)
“…there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel…(Nu 24:17)
“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” (Dan 12:3)
3) Ministers, serving in the government of the kingdom of God
“And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s [the son of David’s] wisdom, and the house that he had built, And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.” (I Kings 10:4-6)
“But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:42-45)
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of The Chosen One/Messiah/Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-13)
“That I should be the minister of Yahweh’s Chosen Savior/Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 15:16)
4) Rulers, princes, what we would call administrators
“And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.” (Exodus 18:25)
“These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel. (Numbers 1:16)
“For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in The Chosen One/Messiah/Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.” (Ro 12:3-8)
“This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) (I Tim 3:1-5)
5) Watchers – guardians, super-visors which is another word for over-seers. Just as in any human agency, supervisors are actively engaged in spotting problems within their sphere of responsibility and reporting them to their bosses to obtain instructions and authorization for dealing with them.
“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.” (Eze 3:17-21)
“For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.” (Act 20:27-29)
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (II Tim 4:3-5)
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil…Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Eph 6:11-18)
6) Holy ones – shining examples of God’s purity and righteousness
“And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel…if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant…ye shall be unto me…an holy nation.” (Ex 19:3-6)
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (I Pet 1:15-16)
7) Judges basing rulings on God’s constitution.
“And when Moses’ father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness…And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said….And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.” (Ex 18:14-26)
“It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, in the name of our Lord Yahweh’s Chosen Savior / Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” (I Cor 5:1-5)
“Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?” (I Cor 6:1-5)
8) Saints, sanctified ones – Once we understand that saint are the “Untouchables”, uncorruptable by evil, we understand that the purpose of God’s commandments is not to isolate God’s workers from the rest of the world, but to insulate us from the evil that surrounds and would corrupt us, so that we can effectively represent God as we fight his battles against evil in the world.
“The LORD came from Sinai…Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words. Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob. (Deu 33:2-4)
“Paul called to be an apostle of Yahweh’s Chosen Savior/Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ through the will of God...to them that are sanctified in Yahweh’s Chosen Savior / Messiah Yeshua / Christ Jesus, called to be saints…I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge…Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Cor 1:1-8)
“I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (Joh 17:14-17)
9) host / army:
“And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai…Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel…every male…from twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war…number them by their armies…and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah. And his host…were 74,600.” (Nu 1:1-4)
“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth…And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war…and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean…And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” (Rev 19:6-20)
10) Mighty – Overcoming humanly impossible odds in the power of God’s spirit.
“And when he [Samson] came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands. And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.” (Judg 15:14-15)
“These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: …
- chief among the captains…was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
- And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away: He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the Lord wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
- And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop…and the people fled from the Philistines. But he stood…and slew the Philistines: and the Lord wrought a great victory.” (II Sam 23:8-12)
11) Gods – above and beyond the limiting dimensions of spacetime, able to operate in the eternal, immortal dimensions and able to foresee the future so plan ahead to avoid disaster, knowing / judging what is good and evil. This capacity, like electrical current, is only obtained by humans through connection with Almighty God, or lesser gods whose power is permitted by Almighty God.
“Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah. But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. And Saul’s servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.” (I Samuel 16:13-15)
Any religion that teaches that humans become self-sufficient gods is a false religion. We can never become self-sustaining in our own power.
“But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Yaweh’s Chosen Savior/Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” (I Cor 8:6)
“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Col 1:15-17)
There is only one human who contains all necessary power sources within himself.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (Joh 1:1-14)
“Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” (Isa 44:6)
There are many accounts of the physical manifestation of God prior to Yahweh’s Savior’s/Yeshua’s birth as a human being. This is called a theophany or Christophany.
“And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day…And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” (Gen 32:24-30)
It is not hard to understand how The Savior/Yeshua can be functioning as a man in the Old Testament when we realize that, once The Savior/Yeshua was resurrected with his immortal body, he was no longer limited by spacetime, so can effortlessly show up not only where-ever but also whenever he wants, including the past.
“…when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you….And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.” (Joh 20:19, 26) “And as they thus spake, Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them. And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved The Chosen One/Messiah/Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. (Lu 24:36-51)
12) Disembodied Spirits / Ghosts
“And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.” (I Sam 28:6-15) Samuel’s soul and spirit was separated from his body at his death, and taken to a place of comfort, peace, rest and intimacy to await The Promised Savior’s redemption from death.
“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom [pocket created by draped garment, like a baby sling]…” (Lu 16:22)
“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left…And one of the malefactors…said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Yahweh’s Savior/Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Lu 23:33-43)
“…knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (II Cor 5:6-8)
In this state, the soul is activated and made conscious by the spirit in the spirit domain.
“I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.” (Rev 6:9-11)
It is possible for a still-living, i.e. still-connected soul to be temporarily “absent from” his body to become conscious of, and active in, the spirit domain. Another spirit must come into, connect with, the body to activate spirit abilities. Ungodly humans who seek to access the spirit domain can separate their souls from their bodies by connecting to a spirit. The process is basically the same for good and evil spirits. The purpose is what makes the difference. God’s spirit gives and supports life. Evil spirits suck the life out of humans. Think of it like making the acquaintance of a drug dealer, gang leader, protection racket, or organized crime boss. You get into the relationship thinking to make your life better, but then you find you are totally out of control and only serving the awful demands of your new master. The Ozark television series is a realistic portrayal of the inexorably degenerating path.
“…ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ…And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them…These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit [but rather a lesser spirit or spirits].” (Jude 4,17)
Prior to the Savior’s redemption of mankind the Spirit of God only temporarily empowered certain men. After the Savior finalized redemption and humans could be declared justified, i.e. sinless, his Spirit was able to permanently indwell and empower those who accept him into their being.
“…The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was there upon him…And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.” (Eze 1:3, 2:1-2)
“Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: …And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide [take up permanent residence in contrast to sojourn / temporary residence ] with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” (Joh 14:10-20)
“Then said Yahweh’s Savior/Yeshua/Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:” (Joh 20:21-22)
13) Angels / Messengers Humans are ambassadors bridging the spirit and material worlds, with the most important messenger being God himself becoming human.
“Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay…For God speaketh…yet man perceiveth it not…That he may withdraw man from his purpose…and his life from perishing…If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: then he is gracious unto him, and saith…I have found a ransom… ” (Job 33:6,14-24)
“God was in The Chosen One/Messiah/Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for The Chosen One/Messiah/Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:” (II Cor 5:19-20)
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last..And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man…And he had in his right hand seven stars…The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches…Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write…(Rev 1:1-2:1) [Obviously these angels are humans relaying messages from God to humans. God does not need to send the written word to spirit angels in heaven.]
Certain celestial beings are so similar to humans that human can be unable to distinguish a difference.
“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” (Heb 13:2)
“And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials…And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Yeshua / Jesus.” (Rev 17:1, 19:10)
While this is encouraging to believers in a positive sense, there is also a potential dark side to interacting unknowingly with a fallen angel. That’s just creepy.
“Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” (II Cor 11:14)
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (II Cor 2:11)
I realized that I was in fact ignorant of Satan’s devices. The next post will examine this individual.
To summarize what we’ve learned so far:
- God created the universe and everything in it, so it belongs to him. He chose to delegate dominion – administration, oversight, responsibility, caretaking – to humans. In order for humans to be successful at this enormous job, we have to do the right thing, which is one way of saying “be righteous”, since doing the wrong thing will result in dysfunction and destruction.
- There is another category of beings who inhabit and function in higher dimensions than the four on earth, who interact with humans for good and evil. In particular, there is one called Satan. We need to know about him.
