~1300 BC – 1,000 BC Joshua and a series of judges / leaders to King David
Key Precept: God granted a plot of land as an embassy from which his appointed ambassadors could minister the Kingdom of Heaven on earth to the nations scattered at Babel.
“Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there…for all the earth is mine.“ (I Kings 11:36, Exodus 19:5)
In a previous post we reviewed how the noun identifying a person, place, or thing is the conversion of the verb describing the actions associated with that entity. An analysis of the name ‘Jerusalem’ (where the English J is a Y in Hebrew), enlightens our understanding of the function of this city.
The forms ירה (yrh) and ירא (yr’) …reflect an exchange of energy from a higher, dispensing level to a lower, receiving level. It appears that the form ירה (yrh) mostly describes the sending of the energy; either the exchange viewed from the perspective of the dispensing side, or else the shock-free absorption of the energy on the receiving side. The form ירא (yr’) appears to deal mostly with the receiving of the energy; the exchange viewed from the perspective of the receiving side, and that usually with the anticipation of intense alteration.
The general meaning of the graceful verb שלם (shalem) is that of wholeness, completeness or “unbrokenness” (and see for the opposite the verb רעע, ra’a)…
In the Hebrew language it’s quite simple to indicate not only a condition (like shalem), but also the means to get there (to “shalemize”). The usage of this shalemize form in Scriptures is quite revealing. Wholeness is achieved or restored most often by some kind of restitutory payment or covenant…shalem is used when vows are to be paid to the Most High, or when days of mourning are to be completed (Isaiah 60:20), and ties in directly to the Messiah and his salvific work (Joel 2:25).
The derivatives of this verb are:
- The famous masculine noun שלום (shalom), meaning peace (Isaiah 32:17). Peace in the Bible doesn’t just indicate a warless state, but rather a state of completeness and harmony or rather un-dividedness. It also covers completeness (Jeremiah 13:19), prosperity (Genesis 43:27), health and safety (Psalm 38:4).
- The masculine noun שלם (shelem) peace offering or a sacrifice for alliance or friendship (Amos 5:22, Exodus 24:5).
- The denominative verb שלם (shalam), meaning to be in a covenant of peace (Job 22:21, Isaiah 42:19).
Peace and how to make it..
Peace — defined as the absence of conflict or discord — may be achieved in…such a level of understanding of irreconcilable elements that these can be…joined, in…a unified theory or system of definition. This process requires no censoring and demonstrates all elements to be most intimately related to the identity of the whole. The key-word of this process is relationship. That’s what this root means.
In Hebrew, peace-making means whole-making, and not warm-fuzzy-deny-your-concerns-and-stop-being-difficult-making. Hebrew peace-making requires the effortful acquisition of intimate knowledge of one’s opponent, and since in Hebrew love-making is pretty much the same as knowing someone (the verb ידע, yada’, means both to know and to have sex…the command to “love your enemy” (Matthew 5:44) has not a lick to do with placidly suffering abuse and trying to conjure up lofty feelings for the brute who’s mistreating you, and everything with studying your enemy until you know enough about him to either appreciate his motives (and behave in such a compatible way that he stops assaulting you) or else blow him out of the water by being superior.
When Jesus says, “blessed are the peace-makers” (Matthew 5:9), he does not refer to those people who insist we should all assume a state of blissful indifference, but rather those people who grab the bull by the horns and stare deep into his eyes and pick his brain with an axe. Making peace starts with making a relationship with your enemy, and it results in getting to know your enemy (which in turn makes the chance excellent that at some point your enemy will stop being your enemy).
Archaeological evidence makes Jerusalem one of the oldest cities in the world, placing the lowest level of habitation layers between 4500–3500 BCE, i.e. during Adam’s lifetime.
Historical evidence places the city about 2000 BC during Shem / Melchizedek’s reign.
The first mention of Urusalim can be traced to Egyptian Execration Texts [formal magical curses placed on their enemies]. The Early Execration Texts…date to the late 20th and 19th centuries B.C… with the Later Execration Texts dating to the late 19th century B.C. In the earlier texts only a few cities are mentioned in this region of Canaan. Jerusalem, Ashkelon and Rehobin are the chief ones in Palestine. In the later texts, the two principal cities of the region are Shechem and Jerusalem…Indeed this is proof that the cities in the patriarchal narrative were in fact occupied and in existence during the Middle Bronze Age (ca 2000-1550 BC)
In God’s typical sleight of hand way, the Egyptian curses benefit their enemies. These texts support the biblical account that the city was called Jerusalem, the religious center of the Hebrews, during the time frame in which Abram entered the land of Canaan.
This photo of an existing village in Yemen gives a good idea of how the “castle of Zion” / Jerusalem would have looked in the Bronze Age, with a small population crowded together on the highest spot for protection.
The Middle Kingdom Egyptian Execration Texts identify the city, in the Egyptian language, as Rusalimum. The root S-L-M that in the Hebrew name applies to “peace” can be twisted, to Shalim, the god of dusk [evening, works of darkness opposing the God of light] in the Canaanite religion.
The Egyptian execration texts also validates Noah’s curse on his grandson Canaan, who would have personally been subordinate to Shem as he ruled as Melchizedek from Jerusalem.
“And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.” (Gen 9:24-26)
Put these Bible verses into historical perspective! These were real people who lived out their lives in dramatic circumstances. How sad that Sunday school has them dumbed down to coloring book caricatures. Surely we expect Canaan to rebel against servitude!
And sure enough he did.
Archaeological excavations indicate that by the 17th century BCE, following the death of Shem and during a lapse of any Hebrew force in the area, the Canaanites had taken control of “Rusalimum” and built massive walls (4 and 5 ton boulders, 26 feet high) on the eastern side of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem has been fought over more than any other place. This makes sense since, unlike any other current nation’s capitol, it has been continuously inhabited. And throughout there has been continuous fighting over who will control Jerusalem and the land promised to Abraham’s descendants. Where exactly is that?
“the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.” (Gen 15:19-21)
The post Sin City defines these same boundaries by four ancient rivers split from the single river emerging east of the larger territory of Eden, which is evidently under the Mediterranean Sea. It is none other than the land “east of the garden of Eden,” i.e. not the garden itself but the land closest to that magical land with the lure of obtaining eternal life from the Tree of Life.
And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden…to keep /guard it.” (Genesis 2:8-15)
We know what happened after the Adams ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.
“And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever [as a zombie, with no opportunity for transformation through death and resurrection]: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden…and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep / guard the way of the tree of life.” (Genesis 3:22-24)
The gateway to the garden is where the Adams would have continued making the blood sacrifice for sin as taught by YHVH. And this activity would be the defining attribute / way / name of this place for all time, as described above in the meaning of the name Jerusalem.
The general meaning of the graceful verb שלם (shalem) is that of wholeness, completeness or “unbrokenness”…
Wholeness is achieved or restored most often by some kind of restitutory payment or covenant…and ties in directly to the Messiah and his salvific work (Joel 2:25)…
The derivatives of this verb are:
- The famous masculine noun שלום (shalom), meaning peace (Isaiah 32:17)…a state of completeness and harmony or rather un-dividedness…
- The masculine noun שלם (shelem) peace offering or a sacrifice for alliance or friendship (Amos 5:22, Exodus 24:5).
This is where Abel’s blood sacrifice was accepted over Cain’s vegan offering, for obvious reasons. Cain did not shalemize, engage in activities designed to achieve peace, undividedness-unity, alliance with God through respecting his ways. Or with his brother, notice. Cain was either competing with his brother to be the favorite, or competing to be an equal with God directly. In any case, unity / peace with God requires unity / peace with his family.
“Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect.” (Genesis 4:3-5)
How did God show respect to one and not the other? Standard MO is fire from heaven, perhaps in this case from the guardian cherubim pointing their sword at the one chosen.
Not only is it logical to deduce from the activity there, unequivocal references to this territory as the gateway to the garden of Eden, as well as a hyper dimensional portal to God in heaven, are made at the beginning of the history of the world.
The Hebrew word “paneh’ / פָנִי ” is translated into multiple English words. This dictionary function allows us to grasp the figurative as well as literal meanings. The 2128 uses of of this word variously translated as “face, surface, countenance, presence, before me, in front of, under the oversight of, stand before” can be summed us as expressing as a boundary to “this being”.
And Cain said unto the LORD…Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from
- the face / פָנִי of the earth [in juxtaposition to heaven]; and from
- thy face / פָנִי [oversight, protection] shall I be hid…every one that findeth me shall slay me. And Cain went out from
- the presence / פָנִי / access to favor of the LORD. (Genesis 4:13-16)
And following throughout history there are multiple references, such as the following.
“the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem…the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain...Then did the cherubims lift up their wings…and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. (Ezekiel 8:3-4, 11:22)
I can’t take time in this post to dissect every concept packed into Isaiah’s prophecies, but for the purposes of this post just catch this one – the future return to Jerusalem as the original worship center for all people with faith in YHVH’s savior from all time, not just the nation of Israel.
The LORD reigneth…he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved. The LORD is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people…worship at his footstool.” (Psalm 99)
“IN THAT DAY shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts…
IN THAT DAY shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar [memorial] at the border thereof to the LORD. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour [as he is famous for doing for the Hebrews]…And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it…
IN THAT DAY shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve [in context – the LORD] with the Assyrians.
IN THAT DAY shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:
Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be [in effect, all the nations of the world]
- Egypt my people
- Assyria the work of my hands
- representative leader of the descendants of Japheth as Assyria was “worked over” from the original establishment under Asshur. “God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem” (Genesis 9:27)
- “the neo-Assyrian Empire of c 700 BC is the first of a line of [Aryan, Indo-European, Caucasian] Empires: Assyria to Babylon-Media to Persia to Macedonian to Greek Diodechi to Roman to Byzantine and Parthian and Sassanid.”
- Assyrian rulers converted from paganism to Judaism in the 1st century, and the Assyrians converted from paganism to Christianity between the early first and third centuries…with Osroene becoming the first independent Christian state in history.
- the Christians of the Middle East preserve a direct link with the ancient pre-Arab Middle East in their liturgy. In the Fertile Crescent this would be a variant of Syriac, but in Egypt it would be Coptic, the language which descends from ancient Egyptian.
- People living in Iran and eastern Turkey who identify as descendants of ancient Assyrians sent their DNA for analysis. Preliminary findings suggest their ancestors may have once mixed with local Jewish populations.
- Israel mine inheritance.”
- representative leader of all the descendants of Shem (Isaiah 19:18-25)
“IN THAT DAY shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth [Shem’s multi-ethnic Hebrew nation] may enter in…
IN THAT DAY…the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 26-27)
It should be expected, since the Adversary is constantly on the prowl, that the land east of Eden is also the territory where the rebels against Creator God immediately establish their cities as bases for warfare. And, as fully developed in the post Sin City, we find this to be the case with pre-flood Cain and post-flood Nimrod, AKA Amraphael.
Please don’t jump to the conclusion that biblical accounts of historic warfare justifies the current Israeli nation’s treatment of modern Palestinians therefore the Bible is nothing but propaganda for a racist imperial people and therefore can and should be rejected. The primary rule for this posting – don’t take statements out of context. The Hebrews and the Canaanites of the 2nd millenium B.C. are not the Israelis and the Palestinians of the 2nd millenium A.D.
The biblical purpose for giving the land to Abraham was so that he and his heirs to God’s promise in Genesis 3:15 could be the four-dimensional humans through whom the hyper-dimensional Spirit God could interact in order to bless the rest of the world, not lord it over them. Can we keep an open mind as we gather data about peoples and circumstances we don’t yet know about?
“Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!“
”And God said, [No, Ishmael shall not be your heir to the Kingdom of God.] Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.” (Genesis 17:18-21)
What covenant is that? This is commonly assumed to be possession of the Promised Land. In fact there are many covenants, so we can’t assume anything. If we track the development of the promises, we will find that this reference to Isaac becoming heir to Abraham’s estate is so much more than just property. The property simply supports the assignment of responsibility.
“Now the LORD had said unto Abram…in thee shall all families / nations of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3)
This blessing is understood to be salvation through the ultimate Seed, YHVH’s Promised Savior of the tribe of Judah in Israel, but did you really think God totally ignored everyone but the nation of Israel for over a thousand years in the interim?
Abram’s rescue of the cities of the plain from the four kings provides one example of Abram living up to his responsibility to bless all nations, even enemies, by preserving, protecting and defending, and leads us into the concept of the need for a geographical base of operations to do so. This is the concept central to 20th century AD and BC Zionism.
“And the king of Sodom went out to meet him [Abram], after his slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale [flat space able to accommodate large groups of men, such as armies]. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest-king of the most high God. (Gen 14:17-18)
The mention of Melchizedek bringing out bread and wine may seem superfluous, but certainly one major deduction that can be drawn is that in acting as the host, Melchizedek is identified as the ruler of the city, leader of the Hebrew people who were living lives that were
"blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life." (Philippians 2:15-16)
And this brings us back to the Canaanites jostling for possession of the land assigned to Abraham’s people.
We can extrapolate Canaan’s lifespan by matching him up with his cousin Arphaxad, and discover that at this stage of history Canaan is still alive and the land “of Canaan” is literally where he has staked a claim, like William Penn’s “Penn-sylvania”.
This is the western leg of the fertile crescent, coastline of the Mediterranean maritime territory, as much a geopolitical imperative as access to oceans are in our day. No wonder he snatched it up right away, quite likely as an early empire-expanding strategy under his nephew Nimrod when the whole world was under his control. You may recall, or discover shortly, that Nimrod, by his name Amraphel, did indeed have control of this territory, noted when its inhabitants tried to shake him off.
According to non-biblical scholars, the Bible is a major source of information about the Canaanites, whose existence, for at least a thousand years before the Exodus, is acknowledged to be a reality even if the Exodus isn’t. In science this is called “bias.” Anyway, let’s make the effort to gather collateral information about the Canaanite patterns of behavior so vile as to need wiping off the face of the earth.
Much of what scholars know about the Canaanites comes from records left by the people they came into contact with. Some of the most detailed surviving records come from the site of Amarna, in Egypt, and from the Hebrew Bible…”Canaan was not made up of a single ‘ethnic’ group but consisted of a population whose diversity may be hinted at by the great variety of burial customs and cultic structures” wrote Ann Killebrew, an archaeology professor at Penn State University.
“And the sons of Ham…Canaan. And Canaan begat Sidon his first born, and Heth, And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.”
The biblical account of Canaan’s claim stretching from coastal western Syria to the boarder of Egypt is well documented by archeologists.
Sidon, Canaan’s first born and crown jewel, is not named as such among the seven nations but as Canaan’s scion he is not only included in the broad category of “Canaanite”, but is the ultimate representative of a Canaanite. Sidon is considered the seat of the Phoenician, i.e. Canaanite, civilization in that most of the trading ships which spread Phoenician cedarwood, goods, culture, and colonies were launched from this city’s port. An artist’s rendition from historic descriptions and archeological finds gives us a sense of what Sidon’s heyday was probably like. This, as well as the Phoenician port colony of Carthage on the northern coast of Africa is reminiscent of the description of Atlantis. This is likely a deliberate identification with their glorious Old World civilization, just as Washington D.C. was intentionally designed to identify with our Roman heritage.
Artifacts manufactured at Sidon have been found throughout Mesopotamia, Egypt, Rome and even Britain. Through its trade, Sidon was the most powerful city-state of ancient Phoenicia. One of its primary trade goods came from mollusks in that part of the Mediterranean from which were manufactured the purple dye which was so rare and expensive that the color purple became synonymous with royalty.
There is evidence that Sidon was inhabited as long ago as 4000 B.C., i.e. the dawn of biblical human history, with evidence of historical continuity from about the time of the flood. That the locations of these cities were known to the post-flood peoples is evidenced by ancient documents such as the following.
I captured the cities of Tarbaṣu and Yaballu…I destroyed those cities, together with cities in their environs, making them like the tells after the Deluge. –Assyrian King Tiglath-pileser III (745-727 BCE)
No doubt Sidon was guided by his antediluvian grandfather Ham to exploit a known source of self-empowerment by settling at a pre-flood site. This emerges as a pattern with the rest of Canaan’s sons as well as many other nationalities.
The city flourished as part of a loose confederacy of city-states spread along the coast of the land of Canaan...with each city operating as a sovereign state ruled over by a king…This brought Sidon into competition with…the city of Tyre. In the 10th century BCE, the balance of power shifted to Tyre primarily due to the leadership of…Hiram. Tyre forged trade agreements with the newly minted kingdom of Israel-Judah and her king David. This agreement made Tyre wealthy and Sidon, trying to compete, entered into their own pacts with the kingdom of Israel [which split from David’s clan Judah after Solomon] including the marriage of the Sidonian princess Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal, to King Ahab (a story famous from the Bible). Jezebel’s insistence on maintaining her own religion was an affront [ahh, more like civil war, promoting serial murder as her religion did, see I Kings 18 and I Kings 21]..and Ahab’s rule was ended by a coup…and with it, Sidonian trade agreements with Israel. [To say the least…]
The Sidonian Jezebel is a portrait of why God said to destroy the Canaanites and their culture from among his people.
“And [Israel’s king] Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him…there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself [ahh! that profit motive from trade with Sidon!!] to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.” (I Kings 16:30-33, 21:24-26)
This woman was so notorious in Jewish culture, carried through the Bible into Christian culture, that “Jezebel” became a permanent synonym for a wicked, powerful-through-cunning woman.
“I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols [which incorporates the evil spirit into the eater]. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:” (Rev 2:20-26)
We can see the same name spelled “Isabella” in Spanish. She is the virtual reincarnation of the Sidonian Jezebel, who could very well have been her ancestor. Their bloody roads to power certainly match.
Isabella is famous, with her husband Ferdinand, for funding Christopher Columbus’ exploratory voyage to the new world in 1492. This single action motivated by trade and empowerment through religion, so characteristic of the Sidonian’s practices, shot Spain to stratospheric heights of wealth and power.
“Spain enjoyed a cultural golden age in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries when silver and gold from American mines increasingly financed a long series of European and North African wars.” Who paid for this siphoning of wealth? “The population of the Native American population in Mexico declined by an estimated 90% (reduced to 1–2.5 million people) by the early 17th century. In Peru, the indigenous Amerindian pre-contact population of around 6.5 million declined to 1 million by the early 17th century. The overwhelming cause of the decline in both Mexico and Peru was infectious diseases, such as smallpox and measles, although the brutality of the Encomienda [forced labor like that in the Nazi concentration camps] also played a significant part in the population decline. And then there was the religious persecution.
Beginning in 1514 Spanish conquerors adopted “the Requirement,” an ultimatum in which Indians were forced to accept “the Church as the Ruler and Superior of the whole world” or face persecution. If Indians did not immediately comply, the Requirement warned them:
“We shall take you and your wives and your children, and shall make slaves of them, and as such shall sell and dispose of them as their Highnesses may command; and we shall take away your goods, and shall do all the harm and damage that we can.”
Since 1971 Columbus Day has been celebrated in the U.S. as federal holiday, and on October 9, 2002, President George W. Bush issued a presidential proclamation celebrating “Columbus’ bold expedition [and] pioneering achievements,” directing that “the flag of the United States be displayed on all public buildings on the appointed day in honor of Christopher Columbus.”
Missing from this proclamation was any mention of violence, slavery, religious persecution, or the pursuit of gold. Yet Columbus himself was more forthcoming about how he should be remembered. In a letter penned a few years before his death, Columbus wrote: “I ought to be judged as a captain who for such a long time up to this day has borne arms without laying them aside for an hour.”
Isabella is also famous for being “Europe’s first great queen“. The similarities between the two Jezebels are striking
- Established the first strong European / Israelite nation-state through the creation of “the Holy Brotherhood”, used to keep Castilian nobles in check. This establishment of royal authority is known as the Pacification of Castile, and can be seen as one of the crucial steps toward the creation of one of Europe’s first strong nation-states.
“Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD …the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred…eat at Jezebel’s table.” (I Kings 18:13,19)
- With her husband expelled all Jews who would not convert to Christianity from their lands on pain of death in the most cataclysmic event for Jews prior to the holocaust under the goals of the infamous Inquisition under Torquemada to ferret out by torture and execute by cruel means any heretic non-Catholic – Moslems and Christian dissidents as well. While inquisitions swept all of “Christian” Europe, the Spanish Inquisition was the most infamous of all religious persecutions. “Put your feet to the fire” and “a slow death” were not figures of speech.
“And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away…Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel [a pitifully small remnant of about 1.5% out of an estimated total population of 450,000], all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.” (I Kings 19:14-18)
Those familiar with the fictional Cercei Lannister on Game of Thrones. should recognize the same power-grabbing actions in her reign. Watching this program triggers a gut horror reaction that is more informing than simply reading words for which we have no visual or emotional context from our own limited experience.
Cercei was ranked No. 1 of “30 Best Game of Thrones Villains” by Rolling Stone and described as the “most dangerous human being in Westeros“. This is quite a tribute if you consider that Ramsey Bolton is only ranked No. 4, despite his characterization as “‘pure evil ‘…basically Ted Bundy with a rich politician for a dad and an army at his beck and call. Mutilating Theon, raping Sansa, murdering Osha, literally feeding his stepmom and her newborn to the dogs: He’s the sort of irredeemable monster you usually read about in books on serial killers. His brand of glibly unrepentant awfulness isn’t for everyone, but it stands out even amid GoT’s usual level of brutality — and that counts for a lot.”
If you still feel that a God who would order certain groups to be destroyed is a monster, watch Game of Thrones, or at least read about the characters on this top rated, historically based show, and consider whose side you want to be on – the defender or the destroyer of the living. Surely we’ve learned about enough monster politicians in our own recent history to realize there are real threats to humanity by cruel rulers with their devoted followers, and someone IS going to die. It’s just a question of who.
This is why the American men and women who fought World War II, “not for fame or recognition, but because it was the ‘right thing to do'” are labeled “The Greatest Generation” of Americans by journalist Tom Brokaw.
Sidon still exists today in Lebanon, but that doesn’t mean that the ancient Sidonians didn’t experience judgment.
Like other Phoenician [i..e. Canaanite] capitals, Sidon suffered the depredations of a succession of conquerors. At the end of the Persian era, unable to resist the superior forces of the emperor Artaxerxes lll, the desperate Sidonians locked their gates and immolated themselves in their homes rather than submit to the invader. More than 40,000 died the flames. Shortly after, in 333 B.C., the decimated city was too weak to oppose the triumphal march down the coast of Alexander the Great, and sued for peace. The city had the status of republic in the early days of Roman domination (64 B.C. – 330 A.D.) before passing into the hands of the Byzantines and, in 667, of the Arabs. In 1111, Sidon was besieged and stormed by the Crusader Baldwin, soon to become King of Jerusalem…In 1187, the city surrendered to Saladin, but was re-occupied by the Crusaders in 1287, later passing into the hands of the Saracens. The Templars recaptured it briefly before abandoning it for good in 1291 after the fall of Acre to the Mameluk forces. In the 15th Century, Sidon was one of the ports of Damascus. It flourished once more during the 17th Century when it was rebuilt by Fakhreddine lI, then ruler of Lebanon, although he was obliged to fill in Sidon’s harbor out of fear of the Turkish fleet. By the beginning of the 19th Century, Sidon had sunk into obscurity.
Heth For many years critics of the Bible treated the lack of archeological evidence of the Hittites as proof that the Bible was just another ancient book of myths. Archeological discoveries beginning in 1876 have since proved the existence of this group as a powerful people based in Turkey. If you look at the map you’ll see that this nation had plenty of space to retreat back to.
Like his brother Sidon, Heth also re-occupied a notable pre-flood site. Hattusha was a vast fortress-city with soaring citadels and elaborate temples, originally founded by the Hatti just before the flood ~ 2500 BCE.
The similiarities between Hattushan, Babylonian and Egyptian sphinxes unmistakably point to a recent and commonly shared ante-diluvian culture providing the basis for the earliest post-diluvian cultures.
Even more important is the timing of Hattusha’s construction, its primarily defensive form and function and its remote location high in the almost inaccessible mountains of Turkey.
When we recall that the flood was used to wipe out unparalleled evil such as genocidal hybrid angel-humans-animals capable of wiping out the entire human race, we should lock on to the explanation for the Hittite’s designation as a wicked people to be destroyed. The Hittites were going for Alien Resurrection.
Gobeklitepe, the most ancient and mysterious temple site so far discovered, is also in this region. Restoration of this massive antediluvian complex may have been on Heth’s to-do list in order to seize international religious control for the purpose of returning the world to the pre-flood state of alien desecration and destruction.
Now that is scary.
The powerful Hittite Empire expanded south and challenged Egypt for world dominance. Excavations at Hattusha have unearthed international treaties with neighboring city-states, among which are some indicating that the Hittites were likely involved in a real, early Bronze Age Trojan War.
The clever strategy of getting through the walls via an image – get it? an idol – of a horse makes perfect sense once awareness of the practice of horse worship is added our accumulating data. The Trojans couldn’t refuse to host one of their gods.
Horse worship is a pagan practice that existed in Europe in the Iron Age and perhaps the [earlier] Bronze Age. The horse was seen as divine, as a sacred animal associated with a particular deity, or as a totem animal impersonating the king or warrior.
Tacitus (Germania) mentions the use of white horses for divination by the Germanic tribes:
But to this nation it is peculiar, to learn presages and admonitions divine from horses also. These are nourished by the State in the same sacred woods and groves, all milk-white and employed in no earthly labour. These yoked in the holy chariot, are accompanied by the Priest and the King, or the Chief of the Community, who both carefully observed his actions and neighing. Nor in any sort of augury is more faith and assurance reposed, not by the populace only, but even by the nobles, even by the Priests. These account themselves the ministers of the Gods, and the horses privy to his will.
There is some reason to believe that Poseidon, like other water [outer space is a sea, remember] gods, was originally conceived under the form of a horse… Demeter was, according to popular tradition, represented with the head and mane of a horse, possibly a relic of the time when a non-specialized corn-spirit bore this form. Her priests were called Poloi (Greek for “colts”) in Laconia.
This seems related to the archaic myth by which Poseidon once pursued Demeter; She spurned his advances, turning herself into a mare so that she could hide in a herd of horses; he saw through the deception and became a stallion and captured her. Their child was a horse, Arion, which was capable of human speech. [Myth, or account of the pre-flood hybridization program?]
This bears some resemblance to the Norse mythology reference to the gender-changing [consistent with what the Bible records about angels being hermaphrodite] Loki having turned himself into a mare and given birth to Sleipnir, “the greatest of all horses”.
The Girgasite. “The name of this people has been discovered in the Ugaritic inscriptions as grgs and bn-grgs, that is, Girgash and the sons or children of Girgash. They are also known to us in the Hittite documents as the karkm; and in Egyptian records as the Kirkash. [The same multitude of transliterations of the guttural pronunciation is found with Gaddafi / Kadafi / Qaddafi]. The Girgasites settled to the east of the river Jordan between Galilee and the Dead Sea…a tribe known as the Karkisa were mentioned in the Hittite Annals, as existing in Asia Minor. Another rendering of that tribe is Qarqisha. Perhaps they migrated to the steppes near the Caspian Sea which was known as the “Sea of the Girgashites” anciently and thence on to south-east Europe.” This proposition is substantiated by recent genetic findings of an Albanian people group called the Ghegs who are 72% MENA neolithic farmer and 28% I-E/WHG, where MENA is “Middle east/North Africa” in the genetic analysis of haplogroups.
It appears that the Girgasites were indeed run out of town, but why? The culture of the 20th century European Ghegs provides a window to their ancient culture in the Middle East.
The Ghegs of Northern Albania are one of only two tribal societies which survived in Europe until the middle of the 20th century. The other consists of the Serb highlanders in Montenegro and southern Serbia whose idealized tribal dentity of “a mountain renegade” and self-complimentary stereotype as one who, in a conflict with authority “reaches for the sword”, provoked “the bloodiest war in Europe since World War II”.
This does not bode well for neighbors of the Ghegs.
Like the Serbs, the Ghegs pride themselves on rejecting any authority other than themselves. One way this harms the society in which they live is the traditional livelihood of imposing protection rackets. The Gheg clan known as “Tigers of Dibra” had a reputation for intimidating landowners and peasants.
The Ghegs are the most faithful supporters of their own set of traditional laws (Kanun). These are based on ancient oral laws which anthropologists including Edith Durham have dated back to the Bronze Age, i.e. immediate post-flood era, linking the Ghegs with the Gergasites as we come full circle.
The most infamous clan laws are those regulating blood feuds.
In Albania blood feuding is a tradition, and has returned in rural areas after more than 40 years of suppression by Albanian communists. More than 3000 Albanian families are currently engaged in a blood feud, more than 1,600 families live under an ever-present death sentence because of them, and since 1992 at least 10,000 Albanians have been killed in them.
The Hivite. “Known to the ancient Greeks as the Ηευαιος, Heuaios, this people moved to the foothills of Lebanon during the Israelite conquest of Canaan.” This is evident in King David’s census tour of Lebanon.
“And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel…and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon/Sidon, And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba. So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.” (II Samuel 24:4-8)
The Hivites were driven out of the Middle East by the Philistines according to Peter Tompkins. Many readers would be familiar with Peter Tompkins’ stimulating work Mysteries of the Mexican Pyramids. In it, Tompkins uses Ordoez, Naez, and native Mexican sources. Part of the Hivite tribe fled Tyre from whence they set sail for America. (Hmmm, interesting, and not incredible.)
“…all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion. And all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which were not of the children of Israel, Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.” (I Kings 9:19-21)
But before you get all holier-than-thou against ancient Israel realize that all the other nations did the same, and, on the other hand, there were also treaties of friendship with Tyre and Egypt, all three governments valuing relations with each other enough to pay for it.
“(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee…And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold. And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer. For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife.” (II Samuel 24:11-16).
The Arkites begin the listing of lesser known, undoubtedly smaller Canaanite nations. They named their settlement of Arka / Arqa / Irqata a short distance due north of Damascus. The earliest level of the archeological site dates to the Neolithic, AKA pre-flood, period, another suggestion that Ham’s descendants were all rebuilding known pre-flood prosperous cities. It was powerful enough to be involved in international affairs, mentioned during the 14th Century B.C. in the Egyptian Annals, and specially in the Egyptian Tell al-Amarna Letters. Hushai the Arkite was a minister in King David’s government and a crucial ally during Absolom’s rebellion. This relationship gives another indication of the multinational character of God’s kingdom in the golden age of King David and early days of King Solomon. Hushai is characterized as a counsellor, he may well have specialized in commerce.
The Sinite, Most authorities consider that they settled at this early stage of history in the northern part of Lebanon where there are various localities with similar names, such as Sinna, Sinum or Sini, and Syn. They undoubtedly also migrated east following The Steppe Route, precursor to The Silk Road, to settle in Sino-, AKA China. This is certainly in keeping with the Canaanites’ commercial interests.
The Arvadite, AKA Arwad, a fishing and commercial city in the north of what is now Lebanon (see map of Lebanon above).
The Zemarites inhabited the town of Sumra, at the western base of the Lebanon range. In the Amarna tablets (B.C. 1400) Zemar, or Zumur, was one of the most important of the Phoenician cities, but it afterwards almost disappears from history.
The Hamathites settled on the Orontes River in northern Lebanon. “Sargon II of Assyria tells us how he conquered the city, and it was at Hamath that Nebuchadnezzar defeated the Egyptian armies. The Hamathites migrated to northern Greece and Macedonia, becoming known as the Emathians (in English). The territory they settled became known as Emathia.”
The Perizzites: The name means “villagers” and denotes rural dwellers in contrast to cityfolk. Think Texas ranchers. Abram and Lot herded cattle on Perizzite land.
The Kenizzites – no further mention, either amalgamated, emigrated or died out.
The Kadmonites – suggestions that they emigrated
The Jebusites are unknown outside the Bible, probably because they occupied such a small city-state on an seemingly unassuming hilltop. Nonetheless, we can assume that they followed the same guiding principle as their brothers in high-tailing it to a prized pre-flood location. And rather than being unassuming, it was the greatest prize of all.
The Jebusite’s claim was, in fact, nothing less than God’s heavenly embassy on earth.
“And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land. And…David took the castle of Zion / Tsiyyon, the stronghold…” (I Chronicles 11:3-67)
Wrapping it up with the big players, the Amorites are mentioned early in Mesopotamian records, around 2400 B.C., just before Sargon the Great / Arphaxad created the first forced confederation of city-states. This corresponds to the earliest post-flood peoples comprising all the unnamed descendants of Noah’s three sons.
The Amorites are best known for establishing the kingdom of Babylonia under the Amorite king Hammurabi, who we know from the previous post is Nimrod, the first named megalomaniacal post-flood giant. The Israelites were terrified of the Amorites, for good reason. The Amorite leaders proudly carried on the tradition of arcane pre-flood knowledge brought to mankind by the fallen angels.
The Amorites are identified as Semitic from linguistics, but this could simply reflect their early pre-Babel appearance in history when everyone was still speaking the original antediluvian language, and that this was the language maintained by Shem. After the breakout of language families, they were known as the Martu in Sumerian, as Amar in Egyptian, and as the Amurru in Akkadian, all of which mean ‘westerners’ from Mesopotamia. This is consistent with other indications that the Amorite nation consolidated in the area in modern Lebanon around Mount Hermon.
Reminds me of “the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.” (Matthew 4:8-9)
This is a major clue, as the book of Enoch relates that Mount Hermon / Armon is the landing zone for the fallen angels. Bear in mind, also, that Satan is equated with the King of Tyre in ancient Lebanon. We should equate the Amorites with Satan’s minions.
Supporting this consideration is the fact that:
Several Amorite royal houses, including those of the old Babylonian [founded by Nimrod] kingdom, the old Assyrian kingdom, and the kings of Ugarit, traced their ancestry from Dedan, whose descendants were called the Didanu, Tidanum, and variations thereof… that’s the name from which the Greeks derived the word titanes—the Titans. Did Amorite royalty really believe they descended from the Titans, the old gods who planned their rebellion against God at Mount Hermon in the dim, distant past?”
The evidence strongly supports the conclusion that the Amorites possessed fallen angel DNA which was carefully bred in their descendants, like race horses or prize-winning dogs, to bring out the most desired traits. Maybe Dedan’s characterization in a video game has some actual basis in fact?
“And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan…And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. And they came unto the brook [that they named] of Eshcol and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs. The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.”
Let’s pause here for a moment to reflect on the single cluster of grapes worth recording for all posterity. Yes, it was so huge that it required two warriors to carry it on a pole between them, like a deer. This corresponds to 100-300 pounds of grapes – in a single cluster. We should recognize that naming the place where the grapes were found is not a random remark, it is loaded with meaning. The spies did not go to the brook “of Eschol”. Seriously, you were thinking they had a map with place names and everything? The spies left behind the name because of the cluster of grapes they discovered there.
Moses is using the literary device “flashback” to previous history to make an important point. For people who know the history, that is. What was it about Eschol that made the nation of Israel associate him with the huge bunch of grapes? Eschol was the Amorite made famous by his and his two brothers’ confederation with Abraham about 400 years previously. Putting all the clues together, we understand that the grapes’ huge size reminded them of Abraham’s huge Amorite friend. (Sidebar – another example of the inclusion of all nations into God’s kingdom.) This deduction is supported as the text continues.
“And they returned from searching of the land after forty days…and shewed them the fruit of the land…and said…this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless…we saw the children of Anak there..Amorites…
all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” (Numbers 13:17-33)
As described more fully in the posts Days of Noah, the descendants of Anak are neck biters for sucking blood from the jugular vein. There is likely a medical reason behind this practice by hybrid humans – a genetic abnormality leading to the need for consuming blood products and metabolic components not produced naturally or in sufficient quantities, as is known to occur in humans.
“And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him,
- Am-raph-el king of Shinar. As established earlier, this is giant Nimrod, politically cut down to size after his failed bid for total power at Babel. The post A Nimrod By Any Name explains how his union with his mother Semiramis produced sexually fertile offspring capable of unlimited reproduction of more hybrid giants, and translates his name as Am = people, Raph = giant, el = God / gods. At the same time that Abr-am was becoming known as the Father of God’s people, Nimrod as becoming known as the father of the gods’ giant people.
- Arioch king of Ellasar / Larsa, a Semite nation whose post-flood city was built on a known pre-flood site. We should therefore expect that they were pursuing the antediluvian way of life, including fallen angel empowerment by any means.
- Chedorlaomer king of Elam, a Semitic nation, suggesting that Sargon or his generals saw the chance to seize power back at Nimrod’s downturn in approval ratings
- Tidal king of nations. Sounds impressive but more likely a motley crew of small clans too insignificant to know or even care about their names, notice they don’t have named cities. This corresponds to American Indian wars, where only the name of the leader who rallied together the small Indian nations, powerless individually, is important enough to memorialize.
This confederation of nation-states smote the following nations, of which those marked with * are defined in scripture as giants.
- Rephaims* in Ashteroth Karnaim, – yes, Nimrod’s own Rapha offspring. But of course a rebel father will produce rebel offspring.
- Zuzims* in Ham
- Emins* in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
- Horites* in their mount Seir…
- Amorites* that dwelt in Hazezon-tamar. The compound Hebrew name indicating ranks of destroyers as tall as palm trees matches the description given in Amos, “whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks;” (Amos 2:9)
- Bera king of Sodom,
- Birsha king of Gomorrah,
- Shinab king of Admah,
- Shemeber king of Zeboiim,
- the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;)
- The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall…Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims / Terrors
- (That also was accounted a land of giants / specifically Repha-im, descendants of Am-rapha-el / Nimrod: giants / Rephaim dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims / due to their unique manner of speaking; A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
- As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims / noun 2752 from the adjective 2750 burning hot, fierce, i.e. characterized by explosive outbursts from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
- And the Avims / lust, [we see this in obsessively craving drugs like heroin, so the Avims would have obsessively pursued their prey] which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
- Caphtor apparently merged to some degree with his brother Cashlu to produce what became known in that land as the Philistines, from which was derived the modern designation Palestinian. Note that they were not among the tribes to be driven out of the land, and certainly benefitted the Israelites at this stage of history. They also had their own giant, but his solitary show on the field of battle indicates he was a rarity.
- Then Sihon [one of the two kings of the Amorites who are described as overcoming Raphaim and being “an evil and sinful people whose wickedness surpasses that of any other” (the canonical Book of Jubilees (xxix. came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz. And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him…and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain… (Deuteronomy 2:10-37)
- Only Og king of Bashan [Golan Heights, you can see from the photo above this is a major strategic location, so much so that it is currently occupied by UN forces to (attempt to) keep the peace] remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.”(Deuteronomy 3:1-11)
It is reasonable to deduce that the five city-states, confederate as they were with the mountain giants, also had inbred hybrid non-human traits. How else would the city-states at the Dead Sea calculate that they had a chance to win a battle after the named giants, even having the high ground advantage, had been defeated?
This deduction is supported by the record that the Dead Sea Pentapolis was initially the only target of the Mesopotamian alliance against the giant stronghold, and that standard war strategy was implemented during the second phase wherein armies must eliminate the enemy’s peripheral defenses before concentrating its full forces on the enemy stronghold.
The Sodomites’ compulsion to consort with the angelic visitors despite being struck blind infers knowledge of the antediluvian power-imputing sexual practices, worth giving up their eyesight.
“And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. [To see what happens.] And he pressed upon them greatly [he knows what is going to happen]; and they turned in unto him…But before they lay down, the men…of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them [unite in ways more than merely join together physically in sex – have part of them permanently left behind as with AIDS] …And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness [but that didn’t stop them] so that they wearied themselves to find the door. (Gen 20:1-11)
The drastic judgment levied against the Dead Sea Pentapolis is certainly consistent with the judgment imposed on the devil and his angels / messengers, including hybrids, by the flood. Contrast this with God’s longsuffering towards humanity described as “not willing that any should perish.”
As a side note, becoming a pillar or pile of salt describes the moist body being instantly desiccated into nothing but the minerals in the body like sodium, potassium, calcium, etc. which, in combination with each other, are scientifically called “salts”. There is no reason to assume that Lot’s wife was singled out for the vaporization which occurred at the time of the fiery blast, just that she was the only one of Lot’s family who removed herself from the extra-dimensional shield provided by the angel escorts in order to “look back”. If the reader is a parent, surely you can understand her agony at the loss of her children left behind in Sodom, even possibly deliberate suicide to join their fate.
This leads one to speculate on, at least some of, the origins of the heavy concentration of salts in and around the “Dead” Sea. Hmmm.
An unbiased humanities review of the Canaanite lifestyle choices and religious practices brings us to a logical conclusion that they were the embassadors / evangelists / missionaries for the alternative one-world pagan rival religion of the Seed of the Serpent, revived after the flood by Nimrod to all humanity who were in process of scattering throughout the world from Babel.
“…and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.” (Genesis 10:18)
For example, the pyramid is most commonly associated with Egypt, but it is found all around the world.
According to the pantheon…the creator was known as Elion, who was the father of the [lesser] divinities…in the Greek sources he was married to Beruth (the city spelled Beirut in English). This marriage of the divinity with the city would seem to have Biblical parallels too with the stories of the link between Melqart and Tyre; Chemosh and Moab; Tanit and Baal Hammon in Carthage, Yah and Jerusalem.
Canaanite religion was influenced by its peripheral position, intermediary between Egypt and Mesopotamia, whose religions had a growing impact upon Canaanite religion. For example, during the Hyksos period, Baal became associated with the Egyptian god Set, and was considered identical…Baal was shown wearing the crown of Lower Egypt [the lower Nile region, like the Mississippi, is where it flows into the sea] and shown in the Egyptian-like stance, one foot set before the other. Similarly Athirat (known by her later Hebrew name Asherah), Athtart (known by her later Greek name Astarte), and Anat henceforth were portrayed wearing Hathor-like Egyptian wigs.
From the other direction, Jean Bottéro has suggested that Yah of Ebla…was equated with the Mesopotamian god Ea during the Akkadian Empire…Canaanite divinities seem to have been almost identical in form and function to the neighboring Arameans to the east, and Baal Hadad and El can be distinguished amongst earlier Amorites…
Carried west by Phoenician sailors, Canaanite religious influences can be seen in Greek mythology, particularly in the tripartite division between the Olympians Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, mirroring the division between Baal, Yam and Mot, and in the story of the Labours of Hercules, mirroring the stories of the Tyrian Melqart.
Warning: Subject matter may disturb
Historical revisionist theories regularly receive more traction among Bible critics than the facts would warrant. For example, consider the subject of polytheism verses monotheism. Most religious history books teach that cultures that were polytheistic (believers in many gods) naturally progressed towards becoming monotheistic (believers in one God). This is seen, even by agnostics as being a necessary step toward becoming a more mature society. Increasingly however, Bible critics challenge that idea. They see the move from polytheism to monotheism as a negative development. According to their version of history, gentle nature worshipping polytheistic societies such as Canaan were supplanted by aggressive monotheistic cultures like the Hebrews which were less tolerant, sexually repressed and war-like.
The answer to this charge is obvious to Bible students. For the Bible paints a picture of Canaanite society dominated by a religious system that was both licentious and cruel. Canaanite gods demanded human sacrifice and more specifically, the sacrifice of children. In the Bible book of Jeremiah, God states, “They built the high places of Baal in order to burn their sons in the fire as whole burnt offerings to Baal, something that I had not commanded or spoken of and that had never even come into my heart.” (Jeremiah 19:5) The Bible is clear that child sacrifice was a regular feature of the religion of the Canaanites and the surrounding nations. “…they do for their gods every detestable thing that Jehovah hates, even burning their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.” (Deuteronomy 12:31) Did the Canaanites really ritually burn their children? The revisionists say no. Any mention of Canaanite child sacrifice in the Bible is just propaganda to justify the subjection of Canaan. Recent scientific studies may have resolved the question.
According to the Bible, centers of worship for Canaanite gods such as Molech and the Baals were set up in Judah and Israel by apostate kings. Child sacrifice was even practiced in the Valley of Hinnom just outside of Jerusalem. Yet religious reformers such as King Josiah pulled down these places and rendered them unfit for use, “He also made unfit for worship Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Sons of Hinnom, so that no one could make his son or his daughter pass through the fire to Molech.” (2 Kings 23:10) So it is no surprise that these sites which Josiah sought to erase have not been positively identified. Other Canaanite places of worship in Israel that have been identified have not yet yielded evidence of child sacrifice.*(see footnote) Yet absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. There is good reason to believe the Bible did not exaggerate Canaanite barbarism.
Although Canaanite civilization was largely driven out of the land of Israel, it emigrated elsewhere, founding colonies along the Mediterranean coast of North Africa, where it thrived for centuries. Most notable among these was the colony of Carthage in modern-day Tunisia. That city-state became so powerful it at one time rivaled the Roman republic. Carthaginians spoke the Canaanite language and importantly, practiced Canaanite religion. They also seemed to have brought with them their cruel predilection for child sacrifice.
Ancient Authorities Reported Child Sacrifice In Carthage
Writing in the 4th century B.C.E, the Greek historian Cleitarchus said of the Carthaginian practice, “There stands in their midst a bronze statue of Kronos, its hands extended over a bronze brazier, the flames of which engulf the child. When the flames fall upon the body, the limbs contract and the open mouth seems almost to be laughing until the contracted body slips quietly into the brazier. Thus it is that the ‘grin’ is known as ‘sardonic laughter,’ since they die laughing.” (trans. Paul G. Mosca) “Kronos” was a regional name for Baal Hammon, the chief of Carthage’s gods.
Another Greek historian named Diodorus Siculus writing less than a hundred years after the fall Carthage affirms his countryman’s account. “There was in their city a bronze image of Cronus extending its hands, palms up and sloping toward the ground, so that each of the children when placed thereon rolled down and fell into a sort of gaping pit filled with fire.”
Around the same time the famous Greek historian Plutarch charged, “with full knowledge and understanding they themselves offered up their own children, and those who had no children would buy little ones from poor people and cut their throats as if they were so many lambs or young birds; meanwhile the mother stood by without a tear or moan; but should she utter a single moan or let fall a single tear, she had to forfeit the money, and her child was sacrificed nevertheless; and the whole area before the statue was filled with a loud noise of flutes and drums took the cries of wailing should not reach the ears of the people.”
Archeological Evidence Of Infant Sacrifice
In 1921, French archeologists excavated some of the ancient Carthage. One site appeared to be an ancient graveyard. The site had hundreds of grave markers. Underneath each one was a clay urn containing the cremated remains of human infants and animals (sometimes as many as seven urns were found one on top of another under a single marker). The soil was rich with olive wood charcoal indicating fires had been kept burning here for long periods of time.
The archeologists dubbed this place a “Tophet” which is the Hebrew word for the place of child sacrifice near Jerusalem at Jeremiah 7:31. In time, many more Tophet cemeteries were discovered. The largest contained the remains of approximately 20,000 infants in urns as well as some animals.
The fact that animals were buried here along with human infants seemed to suggest that this was not a normal cemetery for children. One urn containing the remains of an animal had an inscription indicating that animal was a “substitute”. This supports the archeologists conclusion that the “Tophet” contained the remains of sacrificial victims who had been burned to death as the Bible as well as the Greek and Roman historians had all claimed. Yet some skeptics remained. Perhaps the children had been burned after they had died of natural causes?
The inscriptions on the urns are helpful in this regard. Some of them record that vows to Tanit and Baal Hammon had been met (Tanit was the consort of Baal Hammon. She is known as Ashtoreth in the Bible – 1 Kings 11:23). Many other inscriptions record dedications from the children’s parents to Baal Hammon or Tanit, ending with the explanation that the god concerned had “heard my voice and blessed me”.
Dr Josephine Quinn of the University of Oxford conducted extensive research on the burial urns. Regarding the dedication inscriptions, she concluded, “People have tried to argue that these archaeological sites are cemeteries for children who were stillborn or died young, but quite apart from the fact that a weak, sick or dead child would be a pretty poor offering to a god, and that animal remains are found in the same sites treated in exactly the same way, it’s hard to imagine how the death of a child could count as the answer to a prayer.”
The final line of evidence came from analysis of bones and teeth found in the urns. In the last few years, experts from a number of Academic institutions examined the contents of over 340 burial urns. Determining the exact age of the infants from the burnt bones is difficult because the heat of the fire degrades, shrinks and warps them. However in most cases, the teeth of the infants survived in better condition. As teeth grow in length, the enamel and dentine grow in thickness at a universal rate. Thus it is possible to determine the age of a baby from the thickness of the enamel and dentine.
What the researchers found is that 67% of the infants were between 1 and 2 months old and that the percentage of infant remains from babies who lived longer is very low. This does not come close to the expected pattern of mortality rates in ancient times. Rather it is strongly suggestive that a particular age group was deliberately selected and that these did not die of natural causes.
Put together the Biblical evidence, the evidence of multiple highly regarded ancient historians, the archeological evidence and the conclusion becomes overwhelming and inescapable. The Canaanites really did practice child sacrifice. Human sacrifice was widespread amongst many cultures in ancient times but infant sacrifice was relatively unknown outside of Canaanite civilization. The deliberate murder of infant children was a pronounced feature of Canaanite religion. The Bible does not exaggerate the crimes of the Canaanites.
Pre Jewish Canaanite religion was followed by Ancient Semitic religions living in the ancient Levant (modern regions of Israel, the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria) between early Bronze age (3000 BCE) till 1st century of Common Era.
Child sacrifices were done by Canaanites in those era, and the goddess’s picture above looks similar to a vedic [ancient India] god…In tantric tradition, Goddess Kaali is shown with four hands carrying weapons, wearing garland of skulls around her neck and suppressing a male head below her feet.
An under-world deity, worshipped by the Phoenicians and Canaanites, and had associations with a particular kind of propitiatory child sacrifice by parents…Canaanite goddess Astarte…
Her name is the second name in an energy chant sometimes used in Wicca: “Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali, Inanna.”
Additional information about the cruel practices of ancient pagans who were ruled by tyrants under the ubiquitous snake chief god and hybrid antropomorphic animal beasts can be induced from the Mesoamerican practices discovered by the conquering Spaniards in the middle of the first millennium AD.
The need for massive numbers of slaves for manual labor and crushing taxation on the working class in order to build grand monuments, temples and palaces and provide luxurious lifestyles for the few at the top of the food chain should be blatantly obvious. Every one of the impressive remains discovered by archeologists were left behind by war-driven empires.
What is truly shocking is the justification for these practices given by self-styled judges of culture. “…to simply write off Aztecs as bloodthirsty and uncivilized mass murderers misses the central purpose of human sacrifice in Aztec society: as a deeply held belief system and part of the requirements for the renewal, sustaining and refreshing of life.”
According to some Spanish records, 80,400 people were slaughtered at the dedication of the Templo Mayor, a number likely exaggerated by either the Aztecs or the Spanish, both of whom had reason to inflate the numbers…Pennock argues persuasively for an annual number of victims in Tenochtitlan of between 1,000 and 20,000.
The religion of the Aztec civilization which flourished in ancient Mesoamerica (1345-1521 CE) has gained an infamous reputation for bloodthirsty human sacrifice with lurid tales of the beating heart being ripped from the still-conscious victim, decapitation, skinning and dismemberment. All of these things did happen but it is important to remember that for the Aztecs the act of sacrifice – of which human sacrifice was only a part – was a strictly ritualised process which gave the highest possible honour to the gods…
Oh, so as long as it is a strictly ritualised process honouring the gods. But don’t Christians dare set up a manger display!!!
What is often glossed over in anthropological accounts bemoaning the destruction of grand buildings, works of art and elaborate societies of pagan cultures of every era is the cooperation in the destruction of their oppressors by the victims of those cultures . It is a simple matter of Income Statement. The cost of those grand buildings and lifestyle of the elite at the top of the social pyramid were paid in pitiless taxes, sweat and blood of the masses of people.
While the Spaniard invaders in Mesoamerica were unquestionably cruel, the greatest death rate of American natives by butchery was by the local rulers in endless wars and blood sacrifices.
The Spaniards were not different from the locals in enslaving masses of people. The uniquely appalling death rates by Spaniards were caused by infection. If the Conquistadores are going to be blamed for unwittingly introducing epidemics to infection-naïve peoples, than so should homosexuals be blamed for causing the deaths of AIDS victims. Or you have to admit that in the beginning neither group was aware they were spreading deadly diseases by contact, and when they did find out the key stakeholders in each group allowed it to continue in pursuit of their agenda.
My point is not to relieve the Conquistadors of responsibility or demonize astoundingly promiscuous gays who individually may have upwards of 1,000 sexual partners, kindling AIDS into an epidemic. My point is to justly spread the responsibility to all involved parties – the rulers of the indigenous population as well as the newcomers. Cortes and his four hundred Spaniards could not have destroyed the magnificent Aztec empire with all its infrastructure if it wasn’t thoroughly rotten from within, based on the worship of deceitful, lying gods who abandoned their faithful subjects at the first sign of defeat. Keep that in mind as we face our own battles.
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats…Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (Matthew 25:31-41)
“There were giants in the earth in those days [before the flood]; and also after that…And God saw that the wickedness of man was great…and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually…and God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt [no longer pure genetically]; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth…the earth is filled with violence through them…” (Gen 6:5-13)
“And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me…Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. But his [Lot’s] wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. (Gen 19:18-26)
Amazingly, despite the cruelties propagated by wicked nations, people continue to support and even replace them when they are wiped out by God. The Amalekites first appear in biblical history in the Genesis 14 War. After the Rephaims, the Zuzims, the Emims, the Horites and the Amorites were eliminated, the Amalekites managed to hold on to territory within the Promised Land and were implacable enemies of God’s people.
And yet, after Abraham’s grandson Esau had won his territory by conquering the giant Horites, Esau’s son Eliphaz named a son “Amalek”. Since names define significant attributes, we should conclude that this information is documented to alert us that Esau’s grandson manifested characteristics passed down from an Amalekite mother’s giant genes. Given the notoriety of the Amalekites at that time in history as vicious giant warriors, it is unthinkable that a child would be named Amalek for any other reason. Can you imagine anyone but a Neo-Nazi naming their child “Adolph Hitler”? In standard war strategy, Esau undoubtedly conquered the giant Horites by allying himself through marriage with the giant Amalekites.
Amalek’s prominence in the prophecy given by God through Balaam (who, by the way, was not an Israelite but an Hebrew) alerts us to this family’s close association to Satan. Christians may skim over the name of an unfamiliar and assumedly unimportant to us since from ancient times, but when Balaam’s blessing and cursing was spoken into existence it was well understood to be a resounding challenge by the Creator’s Promised Seed to the claims of pagan sons of god / kings starting with Nimrod. The following graphics all portray and glorify these usurper kings.
“And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel…he set his face toward the wilderness. And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
And he took up his parable, and said: How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel! As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.
- HE [the Son of God / King of Israel] shall pour the water out of his buckets [water sources that are vital to life], and
- HIS seed shall be in many waters, and
- HIS king shall be higher than Agag [king of the Amalekites], and HIS kingdom shall be exalted. [And here’s the proof that this will come to pass – remember Pharoah?] God brought him [Israel] forth out of Egypt [despite Pharoah’s desperate efforts to prevent it];
- HE hath as it were the strength of an unicorn
- HE shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.
- HE couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee. [Notice that he knows this Abrahamic prophecy]…
I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days…
there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall:
- smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. [They were given a chance to ally with Israel for protection but chose not to.]
- And Edom shall be a possession [of Israel, instead of the possessor of Israel],
- Seir / Hor also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly…
- And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations [like the “first lady”, the most influential powerful and respected]; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.
- And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock. Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
- “And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim / Cyprus, and shall afflict Asshur / Assyria, and shall afflict Eber / Hebrews, and he [Chittim] also shall perish for ever.”
The “ships from Chittim” is likely a reference to the Sea Peoples “that appeared in the Middle East in the 12th or 11th century BC who cut a path of destruction…destroying the three dominant powers of the era: Mycenaean Greece, the Hittite Empire and the New Kingdom of Egypt….created a power vacuum that allowed the Assyrians, and later the Babylonians, and Persians to emerge as dominant powers in the Middle East…There can be no doubt the Sea Peoples invasion changed the course of history.”
When we parallel biblical with world history we discover that the actions of the Sea Peoples fulfill a promise by YHVH to support the rag-tag nomadic Israelites with the impossible takeover of the heavily fortified Canaanite cities.
“I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.” (Exodus 23:28-29)
So why don’t historians demonize the Sea Peoples like they do the fledgling nation of Israel making a small footprint in the same area at this same time in history? We can’t call Odysseus a hero for rescuing his people from the Cyclops and contrarily accuse Moses of genocide against the same monsters. The Israelites were by no means the only nation to battle giants and they did the neighboring tribes a huge favor (yes that’s a pun) when they destroyed them.
An unbiased historical, not even spiritual, evaluation of the Hebrew (of which Israel is but one of multiple nations) influence on the course of history cannot help but be positive.
If Western civilization can be said to have a clear beginning, the ancient Hebrews are it…While tiresome and unfair complaints about Jews are also a staple of world history, Dr. Mark Kalthoff opens with a rare line of critique that turns into a compliment, saying the Hebrews’ main contributions to the West’s heritage are…in religion. While a relatively tiny minority of people now and ever have been religiously Jewish, that minority religion has had inestimably large historical effects.
As thinkers including Russell Kirk have famously noted, culture itself arises largely from religious ideas and practices. For a thing called a culture to exist, its participants must have some kind of understood social order…some transcendent truths the people hold in common. These truths are almost universally religious in nature, as they must be accepted on faith rather than demonstrated through scientific proofs…
From these abstract religious concepts have developed a variety of practical and political arrangements…The idea of God’s transcendence, for example, establishes a higher law applicable to all men equally, even those who rule. This was a particularly unusual idea among peoples at the time, whose rulers tended more toward tyranny…
“Hebrews were the first to make people more important than physical property,” Kalthoff says, comparing [contrasting] their legal code to that of Hammurabi. “Hebrews regarded all people as equal before the law. This is a fundamental notion in the Western culture, the equality of people before the law, the dignity of the human person, the applicability of God’s moral truths to all men.”
The Hebrews also held a distinctive view about agreements between God and man, and between man and man…The “social compact” language Puritans and other early American colonists used politically was consciously derived from the Hebrew covenant…
It’s pretty easy to see here the beginnings of what we nowadays call “the rule of law” and “equality before the law,” ideas crucial to not only the U.S. Constitution but undergirding an entire infrastructure of U.S. and western law. But King Saul, as a man and not a god, couldn’t keep from breaking his promises both to God and his people. Saul soon directly disobeys God’s command in battle, which ultimately leads to revolt among his own children then among his people.
The Hebrew insight from personal stories with “universal application” like this…includes that…there’s a direct connection between the private morality of the leaders and the public success of the kingdom…”
Recognizing that men are typically too weak to wield much power impartially and for others’ service is a particularly Hebraic and influential cultural insight. America’s founders, for one, incorporated this insight into our form of government in “checks and balances” that limit leaders’ power…
“If the king is a good king, life will go well for the kingdom. If the king is disordered in his soul, his family might be disordered, and the decline of his family might be mirrored in the decline of his kingdom,” Kalthoff says of the ancient Hebrews’ understanding of the world. “This possibility is ever more prevalent in modern republics, when the people are kings. If they are disordered in their private lives, the challenge of self-government itself might fail, as well.
Like Natty Bumppo and his closest friends, the last of the Mohicans, the Israelite warriors weren’t out to kill all the non-Israelite people they encountered. They were out to salvage what they could.
“When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it. And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. [Standard practice for victorious nation who provided services in return such as peace and prosperity, e.g. the Egyptians, so we can’t assign blame to just one of these nations.] And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it: And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword [to cut short endless war]: Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.
There were only specific peoples whose abominations – described in a previous post as unification for the purpose of empowering their gods – poses such a threat to humanity as a whole that they needed to be utterly annihilated.
But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee: That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 20:10-18)
“Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven, A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak! [The worst of the abominations – angel-human hybrids.]
Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out [by uniting with God], and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee [giving dominion].
Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land…
Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.“ (Deuteronomy 9:1-5)
“But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel…
- I have redeemed thee,
- I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine…
- For I am the LORD thy God… thy Saviour:
- I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee…
- I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life [obviously these humans are a treasure if they can be given as ransom]…
- I will bring thy seed…my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my [NOT your] name: [accepted by God as a son of God]…
Let all the nations be gathered together [in one nation under God, undoing the scattering under Antichrist Nimrod]…
- that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he:
- before me there was no God formed [Creator and life-giver in all its dimensions], neither shall there be after me [Antichrist false life-giver].
- I, even I, am the LORD / YHVH;. and beside me there is no savior.
- I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed,
WHEN THERE WAS NO STRANGE GOD AMONG YOU [who could claim credit] THEREFORE YE ARE MY WITNESSES, saith the LORD, THAT I AM GOD.
Yea, before the day was I am he / Creator; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let / prevent it?
- Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. I am the Lord, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
- Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow…
- Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert…to give drink to my people, my chosen…
This people have I formed for myself;
THEY SHALL SHEW FORTH MY PRAISE.
Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen: Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen. [This sure sounds like the next episode of Escape From the Evil Empire.]
For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
- One shall say, I am the LORD‘s; [Hebrews of old and new covenants from many nationalities]
- and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; [Old Covenant Israelites
- and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel. [Messianic Jews]
Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people…ye are even my witnesses”(Isaiah 43-44)
Witnesses of what? Salvation from sin and death! Certainly not bragging that “Na na nana na! God gave US this land!”
- “I…will make nations of thee And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
- And – [another covenant] I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee…all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God…And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.” (Genesis 17:6-11)
As explained in the post on Father Abraham, circumcision is a requirement for those choosing to be included in the covenant of land ownership and has nothing to do with salvation by grace through faith.
It was written into the law of Moses that one does not have to be circumcised and keep all the laws of Moses to worship the God of Israel. This was the basis for the New Covenant ruling that Gentile converts to this Jewish sect, were not required to be circumcised to be saved.
“Whatsoever he be…of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings… ” (Leviticus 22:18)
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.” (Leviticus 17:9-12)
“But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter…
And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying…Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down…
That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things…Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.” (Acts 15)
Our modern individual states are subsets of the United States of America, with laws applicable only to them but subject to federal regulations. In the same way, subsets of Israel, such as the Nazarites or the Levites, have laws that apply only to them, but all the federal laws still apply to them. Likewise, Israel as a subset of the Hebrew people, has laws like circumcision that apply only to Israel while continuing to be be governed by and identified with the over-encompassing Hebrew nation, most importantly, in the covenant promising everlasting life.
“In that day will I raise up the tabernacle [temporary spirit dwelling, mortal dynasty, “they” in the next verse] of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.” (Amos 9:11-12)
The ultimate proof that God did not simply single Israel out for favoritism, that he had a specific purpose for giving territory to Israel, is that he treated them exactly as he did the Canaanites when Israel failed to fulfill that purpose. Even more, they took on the role of the Canaanites, binding themselves to the Canaanite gods, as adversaries to YHVH. And just as he did with the Canaanites, God destroyed them.
“Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father: For
- he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel – ruled with an arbitrary and absolute authority, and not as a theocratic sovereign subject to the authority of the Mosaic constitution
- and made also molten images [physical objects in which evil spirits are invited to reside as a focal point for worship, blessings and cursings] for Baal-im [plural of Baal / lord / one who a vassal pledges to serve in exchange for benefits.
An idol or an image is a living embodiment…not a lifeless form. Life is poured into [therefore out of someone else according to the physics law of Conservation of Energy]when it is reverentially worshipped with devotion. Devotion has such power…By overcoming the duality of the subject and the object…you can experience oneness with the divinity…In idol worship the true worshipper becomes God!… Idol worship is a transformative practice…before a devotee worships an idol…he has to ritually install it and breathe life (prana) into it…It is called establishing life breathe into the idol (prana pratishta)…It is your life energy which…at the end of the ritual…returns to you, purified and elevated. Inside your body, it purifies you further…when a devotee worships an idol, he also worships the deity who is present in him as his hidden Self…and attains immortal life through knowledge.”
- Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom,
The Purpose of Incense In meditation… consciousness turns its control over to the subconscious and provides an opportunity for Divine Spirit connection and communication. For this reason, incense can be a valuable tool for any spiritual practitoner. Incense is used to heighten an individual’s awareness, focus their thoughts, and bring about calm or healing energies during spiritual work. They are used for giving thanks and honoring spirits.
“the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things…Who will render to every man according to his deeds…unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness – indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile…For there is no respect of persons with God.” (Romans 2:2-11)
“Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word, And say, Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates: Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation…And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city? Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them. Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work…did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him? He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know / identify in unity with me? saith the LORD.
But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it…I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest…even into the hand of the Chaldeans. And I will cast thee out… (Jeremiah 22:1-29)
Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the Lord which he had hallowed in Jerusalem. And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand. And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon. And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: To fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, ” (II Chronicles 36:14-21)
